ITT: People taking internet forums too seriously.
Posted by: Dropship dude
Posted by: DigitalTru7h
Posted by: Dropship dude Oh no, some random person who happened to start up an image board broke two imaginary "rules of the internet". Seriously, just shut up about 4chan. NO ONE CARES.
I'm pretty sure you do not speak for the community.
No, that's true. I speak for people who use the internet for reasonable things like talking on forums, Facebook, Youtube and emails. Normal people.
Facebook is far from the norm and most youtubers are odd at the least.
-
Who cares? 4chan is so incredibly insignificant in real life, most people don't even know what it is. Hell, I didn't even know what it was until I saw people on The Flood trying to compare this forum to 4chan. 4chan is just a bunch of kids trying to act "hard" because they can hide behind anonymous usernames.

4chan is no longer a -blam!- underground secret image board of complete anonymousity. OH NOES MOAR PEOPLE KNOWS ABOUT 4CHAN CALL THE WAAAAHMBULENCE
Posted by: old bad dog You just broke a rule, as well. "Never mention /b/."
1. Only applys to raids. 2. Never mentioned /b/ until this post. Edit: Also I'm gone for a couple of hours and this thread has gone a mess. [Edited on 06.04.2010 12:26 PM PDT]
Posted by: Fuzzy McDoodle Just because 4chan itself isn't mainstream while LolCats is doesn't mean that 4chan is deserving of its respect. Sure 4chan is not as well known as LolCats but what would the Internet be without 4chan... a hell of a lot different.
Not at all. You are seeing the internet the way you see it, not as something bigger than what you know. 4Chan, as you argue, probably has had an impact on certain sections of the internet, i.e youth inhabited, or less serious discussion boards, more immature areas of the internet. The fact remains however that a large part of the internet is untouched by it. People who use the internet daily can have no idea, and it if weren't for this place, I'd have no clue. The internet is whatever you can do on the web. People shop, and are untouched by 4chan, people visit countless discussion boards that have 0 members from 4chan. Fact is that if a 15 year old English speaker doesn't find it funny, or it isn't the victim of a random attack, 4chan isn't particularly known. As BBB says, it is not relevant to pop culture in the slightest. I could literally speak to everyone in my town, and expect only a certain very small demographic to know of it. And that demographic has little to do with anything popular.
Posted by: Aerokinesis
Posted by: Dropship dude Seriously, just shut up about 4chan. NO ONE CARES.
Except for the thousand of hackers that frequent 4chan.
I think you have a slightly different definition of the word "hacker" than I do.

This has been posted a god awful amount of times on /b/, and I even posted this yesterday when someone asked what 4chan was. Shut the -blam!- up.

Moot is good looking for an admin.
-
Really interesting presentation. Nice to hear about the site in perspective of the creator. I really don't care about the OP, it's rather silly.
-
4chan is just so big-headed. They seem to think that they are the shizzle of the world because they're quite big on the internet...maybe if they got their heads out of each others fat backsides they'd find that the world barely knows about them.
Posted by: yerfdog1935
Posted by: Big Black Bear I found the presentation to be quite interesting. Despite what he's created, he seems like a pretty intelligent, level-headed guy.
And it's a good place to go to test if you have been desensitized. :P And a likely a good place to be desensitized. :P
Yeah, but the best place to get desensitized is rotton.com. That, or you'll scar yourself for life. Liked the interview, found it to be intersting...

Guess what, Newf@g, rules one and two apply only during raids.

You just broke a rule, as well. "Never mention /b/."

You can always request donations. Like wikipedia and online games servers in gmod and private WoW servers.
Not much. He's only recently started seeing a profit, he's just got out of some serious debt that was caused by 4chan.
Hmmm I'm surprised his "Army" did not rise up to help him financially.
According to the iCarly episode I watched recently, it is illegal to tell your members to give cash... but I think the show might be wrong =/
Spencer is awesome. The guy who plays him was also awesome as Crazy Steve.
Posted by: DragonEyes It was an interesting video. Although it's kinda strange to see 4chan explained in a power point business promotion kinda way.
This.
