Posted by: OMG_ALASKA What are the signs of someone hitting you offline?
1. Internet cant load 2. Modem lights will blink really fast because of all the packets comming in 3. If you sniff IP's you will see all the bots flooding in 4. Someone said they would Just un-plug your router/modem when some1 hits you because you never know how much bots they might have.
Posted by: OMG_ALASKA
Posted by: Beirut To be fair, Alaska did a piss poor job of describing what it was that he wanted to know. To be totally fair.
How? You have to be like mentally retarded to not understand what I was asking for. I asked what are the signs that someone has hit me offline. How is that so hard to understand?
Alright, idiot genius. I didn't want to bring this thread back from the grave but you need to think about two things: 1. Obviously I understood what it meant, but if you had any bit of sense in your head you would realize that 90% of the people on B.net truly are "like mentally retarded." And apparently the first 7 out of 10 people that read what you typed had no -blam!- clue what you were talking about. Brilliant. 2. How is what you said not hard to understand? Sorry for trying to help?

You have been hit offline.

For those of you who don't know: DDoS - Distributed Denial of Service attack (forgot what the first D means). Happened to me once as well, but it was actually a virus loaded onto my router that DDoSed every computer it was connected to. Now that I see someone else has had this, I guess I got mine from Halo. Damn hackers.

Um, I'm not sure. Maybe like, you know, messages and him/her keeps joining your games. I don't know.
Posted by: HC Storty Isn't it pretty obvious? You get hit offline.
I have bad internet that randomly will disconnect me from xbl so I was looking for some clear, distinctive signs as to me getting hit offline.
Posted by: OMG_ALASKA
Posted by: The NFL nope, im not 64
Who then?
You just sent me a PM about certain websites, let's not go any further than that.
Posted by: HC Storty Isn't it pretty obvious? You get hit offline.
You do realize that people's connections do suddenly crap out on them and knock them offline, don't you?
Posted by: The NFL Were you winning a match against people with gamertags like "FeAr OverDDoSed", or people who had things in their fileshare like TSGH? Did you TS, and therefore GH?
No, and the very last line, got me confuzzled lol. Is this sixtyfour?

If you can't get back online? I've never been DDoS'd just hostbooted, standby'd etc.
Posted by: MajinBuuuu Just saying. He asked if he could get information from the Halo 3 forum users if they could let him know some of the signs that he had been illegally DDoS'ed offline. Then you just come in here like, WUT? I'm also curious as to why you capitalized necessary?

I tell if I've been hit offline by keeping a close watch on my router, if the game was decent enough connection and mysteriously my router starts blinking red I suspect foul play. Usually its pretty obvious whether or not you have benn DDoS'ed, another thing to do would be check their game history for random DNFs through out his game history.
To be fair, Alaska did a piss poor job of describing what it was that he wanted to know.
Posted by: OMG_ALASKA I know all that. I want to know the signs of being hit offline, so I can tell the difference between lagging out, sucky internet, and getting hit offline.
I was just trying to put what you said into words that people actually understand, because nobody got what you said the first time you said it. I was trying to help other people help you, basically. I don't know jack about stuff like that.

In a 1v1 for GB.The other person hit me offline. If returned to the lobby, saying i could not connect to XBL. All you have to do is hit the middle button, then connect to XBL. If you were hit offline, you should be able to connect right back.
Posted by: Beirut Yeah, what's it called...IP flooding? Something like overloading your connection by sending a ton of packets to your IP, I dunno. I've encountered this problem a few times.
I know all that. I want to know the signs of being hit offline, so I can tell the difference between lagging out, sucky internet, and getting hit offline.
