"We are sorry but there was a problem accessing your personal Halo PC files which are located in your My Documents folder."
Thats the Fatal Error I keep getting when I try to run Halo CE on my laptop. Running vista right now. :(
Anyone else have a similar problem and found a solution?

Yeesh. Still not working. I think it may be a problem with how Vista assigned the My Documents folder and the install for Halo PC's inability to find it. I'm about ready to load a different OS just to get this working... [Edited on 09.10.2010 10:26 AM PDT]

Thats actually not a bad idea. I'll give it a shot.

If it's already install on both computers and the folder that you're missing is on the Win 7 PC you should just be able to copy and paste it. I'm not certain it will work but in theory it should since you're using the same CD key and the registry is already updated for it.

Thanks for checking that out for me. The problem with the solution is that I am missing that file folder altogether, even after trying to uninstall and re-install the game a number of times. :( Ps. I hate Vista. I have W7 on my desktop, but am stuck with Vista on my laptop for now. Gonna be a long semester without any portable H:CE. Any other help or ideas are greatly appreciated. Doesn't look like this problem is very widespread from doing a few Google searches.

I was bored so I googled this for you. Found on: www.microsoft.com/games/halo/support_alerts.aspx "We are sorry but there was a problem accessing your personal Halo PC files which are located in your My Documents folder." CAUSE AND POSSIBLE RESOLUTION: Halo detects that one of the files required to play is missing from the ":\\\My Games\Halo" directory. You will be offered a link to http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo/support.asp. Microsoft recommends: Rename the Halo folder in the My Games directory. This forces Halo to rewrite the default files into that folder. Then copy the backed-up files to the new folder, one by one, restarting the game between each copy to find the damaged file. When you find a damaged file repeat the process, skipping any files that you previously found to be damaged. This will allow you to recover as many files as possible. Hope it helps, though you may have already tried this.
