Hello all,
Starting tomorrow, 2/07, some Bungie.net forums will be updated with new post requirements. These changes are planned between 10 AM and 12 PM PST.
• Destiny2, Feedback, Gaming, and OffTopic: Players must have reached the Farm in Destiny 2
• Destiny, Clans, Recruitment, Community: Must have a Destiny account
• Help: No game requirements necessary
As always, Private Groups are open to all for whatever experience you want to share with your friends, so long as it not violate our code of conduct. We are open to any and all feedback concerning Destiny and Destiny 2, but players who wish to contribute to the conversation will be required to have spent time in the game. Players who do not meet specified requirements will not be able to post or interact with threads on the forums in question. If threads are posted in the wrong forums in an attempt to circumvent these requirements, accounts will be subject to moderation by the Bungie.net Ninjas.

Edited by Recon Number 54: 2/7/2018 11:45:21 PMCheers indeed. It's been fun Bungie.Net, but this change will end my run. At least the same requirement wasn't made during Myth, which I discovered also wasn't my cup of tea, but I loved Bungie, was a fan, stayed a fan and considered Marathon still worth playing and talking about, and at the time, thought that Halo was worth waiting for (how right I was). But as pointed out in this news and as I used to say many times over my time here, "it's their site, their rules and as soon as either I am told that I am no longer welcomed, or that I want to leave on my own accord, that will be that". It's been an incredibly fun and memorable ride. I still am a fan. Always will be. Hope to see many of you star-side.

Yeah...why's everyone getting pissed about this again? If you can't even make it to THE FARM, then you don't have the right to criticise the game. That goes double if you don't even have the game in the first place. The only thing I disagree with is the community creations page, that's awesome and should be viewable by everybody.
-
On the plus side, Bungie finally found a purpose for the farm.
-
Does this mean no one from bungie will be able to post on the forums because they dont play there own game?
-
Well your good intentions failed like your -blam!-ing game. Make the restrictions harder to work around because you accomplished nothing and stopped no one
-
You could have silenced all the trolls by making an amazing game. Instead you went Kim jong dum on em. They won.
-
Another finger at the community. Well done Bungie, well done.
-
You have to go into the farm in order to go into the flood forums? What?! What about the people that still play D1 and don’t plan on transitioning? What about the legacy console users?
-
The forum restriction is the right way to show all the D1 haters the way out of the forum. If someone want to talk about something he shoud know what he is taking about. Good idea Bungie. I stay with you (since release). Thank you to bring D2 to PC and greetings from germany.

Edited by Flee: 2/7/2018 1:27:01 AMSome parts of this don't make much sense to me. Your reasoning behind limited access to forums seems to come down to only wanting feedback on the Destiny games from those who have actually played the game. This is totally fair and understandable. But why does this requirement also cover the OffTopic and Gaming subforums? Neither of these forums have anything to do with providing feedback on the Destiny franchise. Gaming exists for the discussion of any game that isn't Destiny 1 or 2, and OffTopic is there for anything that doesn't fall in any of the other sections (including the ones dedicated to actually giving feedback). There's heaps of people in these subforums who have been with you for years. I'm coming up on a full decade of B.net membership in just a few months and have been with you guys since the days of Halo 3. I've played Destiny 1 but unfortunately never got into the sequel. Are you really going to kick the most veteran members of your community out because they haven't played enough of your newest game? What a shame that would be.
-
So, I never post on this section of Bungie but since these are going to be my last hours, I might as well. I completely understand that to reach the Destiny section you will have to actually play the game but #Gaming and #Offtopic? Really? This is a nice way of punching your older fans straight in the face. I’m not talking about myself, obviously I’ve never been here in the Halo days but those people are still around and mostly stay in either #Gaming and #Offtopic... Together with the people who have tolerated this game for the past 3 years. We bought the game back in the day to stay among our friends. The friends you all didn’t wipe out because at the time they had all the requirements to stay. And now you’re doing it all over again. Why? Why kill of your forums sections that have nothing to do with Destiny in the first place? Do you honestly think that killing those sections off will make you earn more money because “ya man, they’ll just buy the game to stay”. No, we won’t. Fking hell, you’re not going to buy stuff for your house and your family if no one in your family wants it or needs it, do you? I decided to be a part of your community because I had heard all good things about your community. I wanted to be a part of the big family. A family you screwed over, AGAIN. Such a shame and so disgusting.

Bungle is butt hurt about all the people complaining and not actually playing their "game".... trying to shush it up like they always do
-
Edited by UltraRage101: 2/10/2018 3:31:38 PMThe requirements are shady what if people do get the game and have been to the farm can they post on the forums and if they can't that means your censoring people. It's good to get rid of the spam but if people do get the game and have been to the farm and they find out they can't post, then your censoring people plain simple even if they didn't violate the code of conduct.
-
Remove content, ban players, and nerf forums? Sounds like a winning formula to me.....
-
DeeJ is a pegboy, and so are you.
-
your game still suck. come from guy who did 3k hours on d1
-
about offtopic. WHY!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
-
Edited by tjustie: 2/7/2018 1:01:14 AM
Gaming, and OffTopic
So in order to participate in forums explicitly created for the purpose of discussing content excluding Destiny...you have to play Destiny 2. Seriously, what's the point of including those two subforums? Why lock Destiny 1 players out of them? I get it if the plan is to cut down on troll alts (is that necessary in #Gaming though?), but couldn't a solution to that be implemented in a much better fashion? Set the rule only for new accounts maybe, while accounts over X number of years old get a pass or something of the like? I understand that Halo players who made up the community have already effectively been kicked off the site and alienated, but further alienating players of the Bungie's current franchise isn't going to do anyone any favors. Edit: I should add, this won't affect me, but I'm curious and annoyed nonetheless.
-
Most of that is completely understandable, it would cut down on the amount of troll accounts or duplicates evading bans...but why gaming and off topic? Are people not allowed to be on this site without playing Destiny 2? I mean Bungie has made more games than just Destiny. Marathon, Myth, Oni, Halo...this just sends the message that unless people are on board with D2 then they're not wanted here and that's most certainly something the Bungie of old would never do. Guess you guys have finished being assimilated into the Activision collective. Shame. There was so much promise and potential.
-
I'll be honest. I'm far from being a Bungie shill, I've made it clear elsewhere that I have a LOT of problems with their business practices in general. But there's really... Nothing wrong with this... At all... All it stops is people who don't have the game from making posts. They can still browse. They can still read everything. Why would you even want to post here if you don't have the game? Even if you sold the game you've been to the Farm already you have access why is this a problem? I'm all for a good ol' fashioned Bungie roast but I don't see the problem with this at all.
-
Bungie: "There's more people on the forums than in game." Community Managers: "Say no more."
-
So what you are really trying to say is welcome to Germany 1939 minus the bad smell of rotting corpses. So from today guardians don’t have a right to a opinion and if anyone disagrees with bungie policy they face the gas chambers.
-
Ahh yes Liberals and liberal companies doing what Liberals do best: CENSORSHIP Cant handle the truth so you guys have to try to censor it as much as possible. Thats all this is really about. You guys can now ban your critics and unless they go through the trouble of playing to the farm on a new account then they wont be able to return. Such a pathetic state this once great company has fallen in to.
