You might ask what my basis is for this or how it's even possible? We killed Oryx in his throne world after all making it a true death right? Well Oryx himself already set the precedent that Hive gods can be resurrected from true death by describing someone's true nature. Oryx himself killed his sisters in a manner of true death and he himself resurrected them.
For Xivu he caused war and bloodshed to resurrect her as that was her nature and for Savathun he killed countless using a trap thereby describing her true nature of cunning. Oryx on the other hand is always meant to seek knowledge and explore. That is his true nature. So that is one option on how to describe him. Perhaps they do this by coming to explore the Dreaming City, unlocking some hidden knowledge.
Now in the new dungeon, the Shattered Throne, Toland can be heard saying "War above and Trickery below, in a place built for Navigation. The unholy trinity." Clearly he is describing the three siblings, Civu for War, treachery for Savathun, and the Navigation, well Oryx was also called The First Navigator in the Books of Sorrow. What exactly does he mean by "a city built for navigation"? Well he is referring to the Dreaming City. Likely it's nature of having portals to travel between realms and worlds. Especially with Xivu and Savathun own soldiers and kin showing up in the Dreaming City I would say this is where they make their move. Ahamkara bones can also grant wishes after all. Perhaps they will wish for The Taken King to return.
PS I think from an overall story perspective this makes the most sense. Or was the greatest of these three. There's no questioning it. It was him they chose to slay them and then the worm god so he could become the Taken King and destroy their enemies. He is the main character in that story. In the Books of Sorrow. Does it make sense to kill the main villain of an enemy faction before the supporting ones if you're not going to bring him back? To me he always died to early. We also know from the Touch of Malice that he lives on in. A way through it and through us.

1 ReplyOryx is the navigator right? Which’s is also an explorer right? Now tell me, how much exploring does your guardian do? :)

Maybe but tbh I don't think either of the siblings are truly the greatest threat the hive have and honestly if they are I'd be disappointed the ability to take is cool and seems like there is a new leader yes but ultimately who will rise when we kill the sisters? Honestly we will probably if that were true stop them before that could happen so oryx is dead. But it's almost like the three can't fully succeed or be without the other you need knowledge for trickery for war and arguably war for knowledge and tbh you can flip all however you want. But through the sword logic when one dies a true death they in a sense see the end or the darkness and they are left with their killer hence the tom or the wotw they live on what if all the gods or their servants must die and be as one before the true threat rises? Once again this has no back bone really but would be a cool twist and even when we think we ended it we find out we played perfectly as a pawn for this enemy. But ultimately whatever the two sisters do we will stop them before it happens or with bungie writing be very pathetic fight against oryx if this is true because I don't think they will want to make him the main man again after the building up to savauthan that they have done. I'd rather stop them before it happens and not taint his scariness

30 RepliesWhat? No. Nokris was already banished from the Hive for resurrecting Hive. Savathun and Xivu would also be banished if they tried this. Also, Savathun is way more powerful then Oryx so why would she revive him? She can completely take Ogres. Oryx could only partially take them. She can also take Lightbearers and Oryx couldn’t. Also, Oryx is dead for good. Terrible theory.

The reason that Oryx's sisters deaths are called true "true deaths" is because they were in the ascendant realm, where they are stronger but more vulnerable. However, an ascendant hive must be in their own throne world/ascendant plane to have a "final death". If a throne world death doesn't have final consequences, why didn't Oryx and his daughters resurrect Crota? He was clearly pissed off that we killed his son, so why wouldn't he just resurrect him? Why did they have a funeral for Crota and make such a big deal if he could just come back? Why would Oryx write about having a contingency plan (Touch of Malice) for when he died if he couldn't be totally killed?
-
Could be cool but lore wise it wouldn’t happen the only reason oryx killed and brought his sisters back was he needed their sword logic to slay akka and he needed them to help beat the ecume savathun wanted to have power over oryx and now she does
-
1 ReplyDo you guys think that destiny is really just the oryx family screwing everything up for everyone else? Like an intergalactic Kardashian family.
-
4 RepliesYeah but we killed oryx in a way that makes him officially totally dead. So unless there’s some hive -blam!-ery I don’t know about I don’t think it will happen.
-
What about Tiny Not-Oryx tho. I want her.

Edited by zxionisus: 9/28/2018 3:49:55 AMI foresee, therefore, that Bungie will bring back Oryx and Destiny 3 will be The Taken King again because we will be caught in a causal loop. The only difference is that we will have to pay another $60 to play it again. Ultimately, Oryx will bring back Crota and we will end up in Destiny 1. Fusion rifles will also be nerfed, but that’s a given that exists exclusively of the causal loop. Even Quria has no answer for that.

Last week I remember the hive were trying to collect a bunch of awoken archives and secrets. Fits in well with the theory
-
I've said this before and I'll say it again, it benefits no-one if Oryx returns. Xivu and Savathun both want to be the final shape, Oryx being dead means he is not competition for them. They will kill eachother as well eventually, unless we do it first.
-
He's not dead. I had dinner with him earlier.
-
18 RepliesI keep seeing this, and there is one issue with it - Oryx killed Savathun and Xivu Arath in his throne world. As they were slain in the Ascendant Realm, they were true deaths, but as they werent in their own Throne worlds their deaths werent final. We killed Oryx himself within his own Throne World. Not merely the ascendant realm, or another Hive Gods Throne. His own Throne. He is done and dusted.

1 ReplyThis is a fact. Look up the name Toax. For even more proof as to why they are.

Isn’t the Book of Sorrow folklore?
-
Yea I can edge transit to kill oryx for like 124th time
-
well hopefully when he comes back he will take us a little bit more seriously than last time.If not than the 60+ whooping's i gave him last time are gonna feel like a light massage compared to whats gonna happen next time I see him. sick and tired of these people resurrecting, there are rules and one of them is that if you die than you should stay dead especially if your Oryx.

This post makes me dizzy. I need to read the lore evidently. Then, only then, this post may become clear.
great to see something other than crybabies on the forum. Keep it up good sir
6 RepliesWould the touch of malice be problematic for his revival? Considering how his soul is trapped in the gun
-
4 RepliesInteresting theory especially now that we know the last wish. That the dreaming city will now be trapped in a repeating cycle of corruption. The queen blatanly confirms this when you meat her as well.
-
I've always thought they could use the Touch of Malice to bring him back, at least in some form, but I'm 50/50 on it right now. I think by the time they developed that line...the true darkness (Pyramid ships) should be here. Just my opinion.

8 RepliesDon't get me wrong, I'd love Oryx to return, but I have found one flaw with this theory. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when Oryx "killed" his sisters, wasn't it in HIS throne world, not their own? That's why him killing them there had such great significance, even though the three had killed each other all thousands of times. There had never been any risk for the three since they would just return to their throne worlds to regain strength. But by killing the two in his throne world, when all three were at the apex of their power at the time, Oryx had also put himself at the greatest of risks. Sure Xivu let him kill her, but Savathun was planning on stabbing Oryx in the back. It was only with Xivu's speed Oryx killed Savathun before she could enact her plan. Had she succeeded though, there would have been no coming back for Oryx, for he would have died his true death. The only way back after that would have been Nokris using necromancy, an act despised by the Hive since it cheats the sword logic. We killed Oryx at his most powerful and his most vulnerable. He threw all of his strength, his sharpness against our blade and fell short. By the Sword Logic, his death was the natural state of the universe, the strong prevailing over the weak. Of course, I could be wrong and I'm happy with that.

1. He never resurrected Xivu or Savathûn from “true death”. He killed them in our Realm, therefore by working his Hive magic, he brought them back from the Ascendant Realm. From their Throne Worlds. 2. Oryx’s essence is literally trapped within the Touch of Malice.
-
2 RepliesI don’t think either one of them would give up the chance to rule on their own. Imagine the power connected to sitting on the throne. Hive basically live to get more powerful. Their worms hunger must be satisfied. They don’t care about empathy, they don’t show kindness, all they do is kill and conquer, just to get even more powerful. The throne is the personal goal for every ascendant hive. Look at the lengths Malok and Alak Hul went to to get on the throne. It’s very desirable.
-
Realisticly the only way oryx cold come back is 1. They used amkarhra to wish his return or his son nokris did some vodo shit but that might not even work because we killed him in his throne world
-
Edited by XenoWraith: 9/26/2018 10:48:49 PMWhile interesting it’s impossible. Oryx died in his Throne World which will mean he is no longer worthy of living. The more likely event that occurred behind the scenes is that there’s some kind of power struggle between the remaining two Hive players and the Dreaming City has been caught by one or both of them. Savathun I’m sure is definitely involved with the events surrounding both the Tangled Shore and the Dreaming City through Riven although admittedly a mediocre player could say something about bringing the Queen back and Uldren would follow. The other guy though I’m not sure. It’s possible his methods involve the Scorn considering just how chaotic things are starting to get in the Dreaming City. Savathun is having to react with whatever she has under her control and while she might have the upper hand, I don’t think it’s a definite gap in this power play that’s going on.
