Everyone knows that death heals Primeval, but not everyone knows all of the intricacies of how the Primeval Slayer buff works. The Gambit Design team wanted to clear up a few misconceptions.

• Our intent for the Primeval phase is that the team that summons first gains advantage.

• If one team is significantly advanced in their Primeval Slayer stacks, the team that is behind receives ‘bonus’ stacks when spawning their own Primeval. However, the number of bonus stacks received is always going to be less than the leading team’s current total. Think of it as a tow cable trailing behind the leading team.
• There is a limit to the catch-up mechanic’s generosity. Even if the leading team is at Primeval Slayer x10, the lagging team will never start out with more than a few stacks when spawning their Primeval.
Our twin goals have been hitting the right balance between elasticity and competitiveness and fostering close, dynamic games. Now that Gambit is out in the wild, we’re closely monitoring the conversation around the Primeval phase (and playing a ton of it ourselves).

Seriously, just remove pvp and gambit from Destiny. The development team clearly can't build a functional competitive multiplayer. You're just keeping it around to shield your pride. If you wan't a competitive gamemode, stop artificially fixing games and improve your matchmaking. If you can't reach this goal by D3, then give up and focus your attention on the real content, PvE.

what the Hell is this. why don't you give everyone a P for Participation Triumph while your at it. you guys try so hard to make a game competitive and fun, yet you give advantages to those in a competitive match that does not earn it! Ace of Spades is a bloody good example: you screwed the pooch on that one. a lot of people were enjoying the grind in earning it! now you screwed a lot of people over by changing the kills we already had into percentages. stop putting training wheels on everything, stop nerfing everything, stop catering to people that wont care about your game in a year or cant play past the expansion because their parents wont give them more bloody money and start listening to the players that actually sometimes enjoy this game and the grind behind it.

Well said,seems bungie really don't want anyone playing destiny apart from people that treat it as a job . Gambit was fun for the first week or so but now they've locked in some exotic and a the stresmers with their try hards have basically made it unplayable for solo or casual players. Normal people have jobs,kids,wives,gf etc and a life to get on with and maybe if they manage to grab a few hours a week on this broken game the last thing they want is to get destroy in what is supposed to be a fun mode. And before all the little fan boys one out of dee jays backside not everyone likes I said can sit and sweat destiny all day so don't use the old"get better" line. FIFA,call of duty,assassin's etc are all out soon and this game will empty out again . Bungie enjoy your stresmers and make sure you give them everything they want cause very soon it's all you're going to have left playing your ...well let's be honest average and full of bs and lies since the vanilla destiny day one...you never fail to lie about lying throne instant you've actually manage to achieve...You must be proud uh🙄

Here's some advice for gambit dont try to get 15 motes. You just hurt your team also dont invade if you can't kill anyone sorry this isn't crucible. Oh, I played 100 gambit matches before malfeasance boss spawned but my team killed it I got the malfeasance same day then the next day the wish ender did all that at 565 570 light soloed the token mission. It's not all about power level there is skill involved and most of the people that I've seen playing gambit dont have skill they rely on sleeper, I love it myself but I can invade or counter with any other weapon. Just some of you need to realize gambit isn't for you. Once you do the rest of us might actually get to enjoy it.

The team who doesn’t spawn first should not get any stacks at all. You can burn a boss as easily at x4 as x10. It’s a joke the other teams gets any buff at all. They already get to invade while the other primeval is up. That’s their advantage to hold the other team.

I hate this, if one team is better than another, they should win - because they are better. You want close matches? Fix your matchmaking. Teams shouldn't consist of four solid players on one team and one good player with three meat sacks on the other. That's the biggest problem across all of the crucible. Try less manipulation and more sbmm.

Wow.....this information makes me not want to play Gambit anymore!! This has to be the most idiotic mechanic ever. Boosting the losing Team? Like, reward them for playing bad? Makes no sense.......but it´s Destiny and Bungie....not much sense to find there

Catch-up mechanics aside, which I do not like at all, one of the biggest issues is that you don't get any chance to invade the other team once yours is summoned if the other team has not done the same yet. Ultimately this leads to the other team spamming blockers and invades constantly and you can't do anything about it. In this case, the other team WILL catch up, and probably beat you, because they end up getting their primeval to spawn with stacks of the buff already built up and no extra adds to deal with. It is legitimately a disadvantage all the way around to spawn your primeval first unless it is an extremely close match. If you have like a 30 mote lead, you're screwed in the final phase. That is the biggest issue I have with Gambit. Well, that and Sleeper being pretty much the only thing you see because it one-shots guardians no matter if it is a body shot while they are mid-super even. Pretty ridiculous for a gun to do that with THAT much range behind it too. So get rid of the catch up mechanics and simply make it the same exact rules for both teams. This way the better team wins. Period. And we all know you can buff weapons independently in PvE and PvP. We all saw it with shotguns in D1. There was a time when you nerfed shotguns a bit in PvP while simultaneously giving them a 50% damage buff that applied in PvE only. Don't lie to us saying you can't do it, because you can and have done it before.

This question may sound dumb, but how do we get primeval slayer stacks in the first place? I was under the impression that we got them from killing envoys.

If I’m invading, putting a team in the ground time after time and we spawn our primeval when they don’t even have 25 motes in, then we should win. But it happens quite often that my team gets screwed out of ammo drops, has no shotgun, has no heavy, and the other team is just loaded with max sleeper shots and they shred their primeval instantly. The catch up mechanic doesn’t reward good gameplay, it usually is disadvantageous to pull first

People sure don't help you kill anything in Gambit, but once you actually do kill something watch how three other people scurry like roaches with the lights on to pick up your motes!

Has the reset buffed ads in gambit? I get insta killed by majors and do significantly less damage. I'm 568 light and feel like a Level 2.

Who cares? GET SLEEPER OUT OF THIS GAMETYPE. It’s impossible to win without that gun. Anyone who didn’t play warmind all year is being punished. It’s stupid.

On my main account I have played SO MUCH GAMBIT....I am about to reset rank. I have Malfeasance. IVE SEEN IT ALL. The second spawn primeval invasion system is fkn terrible. You spawn your primeval and the enemy team gets a constant invade because YOU BUNGIE wants the match to be as close as possible, but dont understand that if the invader is any better than a potato they will wipe everyone with sleeper, the enemy team will spawn their primeval and clear it first because of the constant invade with sleeper. I swear I can smell the incompetence in the air. Its so frustrating because i really enjoy gambit.

The primeval multiplier is something for those who are not as skilled in killing bosses. Or running around with full sleeper and supers to melt boss . I have been on both sides and could live without that multiplier . But again something to help those who are not as experienced .

Just had a match where my team killed 70 mob enemies more than the opponent, killed more enemy guardians and lost less motes than the enemy. We were leading the entire game, all three rounds, yet we lost. My team killed 240 mobs, enemy killed 170, but somehow magically they got same amount of motes out of that amount of enemies as we did. Garbage. Kills the gamemode.

There shouldn't be any bonus stacks. The team who got the motes the fastest has advantage, simple as that.
