This has almost certainly been said before but I just wanted to lay down a bit of a rant myself.
I am going to form this as a Q&A from my experience from day one of destiny 2.
Q:Why does gear that is not "powerful" drop around 25 power levels lower than my current level?
A: To make sure you have to grind for enhancement cores to use all of your loot.
Q: Why do i need enhancement cores to infuse AND to masterwork my gear?
A: To make sure you have a mindless grind no matter what you are doing.
Q: What happened to faction rallies?
A: What that?
Q: why are their so many AFK exploiters in gambit and crucible?
A: We create pursuit and bounty objectives that reward that kind of exploitation.
Q: why is their still no match making for raids or nightfall?
A: we like to make it overly complicated to play without setting a schedule. (IE we want the grind for gear to be a job not a game)
Q: why does xur still not sell new gear?
A: Who is xur?
Q: how come your loot tables are so messed up that edge transit became a meme?
A: We fixed that... but your still gonna get a plethora of other dupes no matter what you do. we just don't really care about our loot tables that much.
Q: is pvp the only reason most people still play?
A: 100% that's all we care about. we made halo!
I know some of these are just me complaining and I am sure some folks will just throw childish insults at me, but this game Is just not fun for a solo player at all. There is no reason to play strikes the loot sucks. there is no reason to cue crucible, half of the time both teams have an afk bot of some kind or full 4 man squad against my 4 Rando Calrissian squad. Lost sectors are a joke sold as a new feature at launch. And instead of fixing factions or making them meaningful Bungie just kinda threw them out.
Destiny 1 ate my brain for almost 3 years. I couldn't get enough, the strike playlist was my go to for after work relaxing. Destiny 2 however has me burned out by the grind, and the endlessly punishing (and repetitive) loot table. (my last 4 exotics were knucklehead and they were each about 3 weeks apart)
At any rate, I will see y'all when penumbra drops. Until then destiny 2 is getting shelved.

Try doing the mote grind for malfeasance. Every dropped mote subtracts score by 2x.
-
They don’t care about PvP, tho. I mean, not really. The matchmaking in competitive is proof of that, imo.
-
Q: why is their still no match making for raids or nightfall?
Real A: Uhh probably because raids require a lot of communication, and nightfalls have those cards to set modifiers that are applied the one player who set them is fireteam leader Also, there*

Having got all 3 toons to 650 and finished the Breakneck quest and the forges (on one character), yes, it is a grind. I don't mind a grind however Forsaken seem a tad too grindy. Same crap over and over again for loots that just meh. I don't think I'll ever raid unfortunately so that's probably out of the question for me. Just seems that Bungie made this DLC extra grindy to make it appear they put out a lot of new content for the DLC.
-
And this is exactly why half way through a games life cycle you shouldn't change from a casual fun experience to a hardcore play or don't. They made the leap from everyone can play to almost no one in an instant. Genuinely just a shit decision.
-
It's more work than my actual work.
-
I've been grinding for the Gambit ship and I don't think I can do it anymore. One rng item from Dredgen and it won't drop. Same thing for my Wayfarer title, just the Osprey away. Tired of the ridiculous false grind dragged out by such a stupidly ridiculous rng system. Just venting, but I really don't think I like or enjoy this game anymore.
-
The first two questions hit home. My vault is full of weapons and armor that I would love to use someday but will never be able to in all honesty. I will never have enough enhancement cores for cool builds. And by the time I even have a a few armor/gun options stacked at 650, it'll be time for a new season and a higher cap anyway... If they don't fix the enhancement core thing, There won't be any fun in playing past Black Armory for me

Edited by Corrick II: 1/5/2019 2:28:15 AMI want to know why Bungie feels like they have to throttle everything in the game. We all know they’re doing it, they aren’t even hiding it anymore, I just want to know specifically where the pressure is coming from. At least then there would be a reason, and I wouldn’t sit here imagining Bungie getting some kind of sick thrill out of watching us complain every day. Also this post is spot on.
-
Just stop playing. Bungie made way too many drastic changes from the fun that was D1. And D2 does feel like a job instead of enjoyment. Quitting the game comes with a feeling of release and refreshment that nobody understands until they just quit the game. Try it and see.
-
You should just abandon this franchise completely. Bungie is a bad joke now, unfortunately, run by arrogant and incompetent douchebags like Luke Smith. I’ve been playing Nioh the last couple months and it is frikken awesome. I am so much happier now that I am not feeling obligated to log onto Destiny and slog through boring and repetitive activities just to get the same duplicates over and over and try and progress in this tedious grind.

The grind isn't fun. The forge weapons are good but not game changing which makes the grind even more of a chore

I have a ton of fun playing this game as a solo. Nightfall and Raid were not meant to be played solo. Why there is no matchmaking, though it is possible to attempt both as solo or with less than optimal players. (There is an actual acknowledgement for doing raid bosses 3 man) In contrast, crucible is more of a team venture but is completely doable as a solo. Solo's will complain about being bullied but they have an option, pre-form a team OR take your chance with matchmaking.
Q: Why does gear that is not "powerful" drop around 25 power levels lower than my current level?
A: It drops so when you dismantle, you have either Glimmer, Legendary shards and weapon/armor parts that can be used for either infusion, turn them in for packages or MODs.
Q: Why do I need enhancement cores to infuse AND to masterwork my gear?
A: So you make meaningful choices, and it gives a psychological sense of saving in case "More powerful gear shows up"
Q: What happened to faction rallies?
A: Currently all Faction rallies are currently on hold, as Bungie is trying to find a system in which better signifies a fun and challenging activity that all guardians can enjoy. As from previous Faction rallies with had some mix reviews and complains especially with seasons 3 and 4.
Q: why are their so many AFK exploiters in gambit and crucible?
A: The issue with Guardians going AFK in Gambit, Crucible, and the Forges is because they feel the need to let their teammates do all the work while they would reap the benefits, and currently there is an algorithm at work in which is trying to detect most if not all AFK guardians, but it does help if Guardians are able to use the reporting system, as it would make it much easier get to those Guardians.
Q: why is there still no matchmaking for raids or nightfall?
A: There is a beta for matchmaking for both Raids and Nightfalls. Have you by any chance tried using it? It was implemented to help clans show and communicate with new Guardians and to be able to scout them to their clan. If you are asking about actual matchmaking here is an example of a possible issue that may come up. You and your group of random Guardians are midway in the raid, for either a disconnect or player/s leaves the raid team. A Guardian/s fills in the spot for the missing guardian/s but realizes that instead of a fresh raid he/she/stack is in the middle of your group's raid encounter, they would in which you would probably have to wait for other Guardian/s to join. There may also be Guardians AFK while matchmaking. There is also the issue of kicking Guardians of the Fireteam sense there is no fireteam leader in a matchmaking raid, there is no possible way to kick them out that would cause problems since matchmaking may take too long, Guardians may ragequit or no experience Guardians may join in. That is some of the issues Guardians may run in a matchmaking Raid or Nightfall, it is best if you or your Fireteam leader has some power when searching for other Guardians to join.
Q: why does Xur still not sell new gear?
A: The reason as to why Xur is not selling new gear is because of some feedback from Guardians regarding that they did not enjoy the vendor since it defeated the purpose of getting exotic gear. Since Bungie started to receive more feedback they are currently working ways into implementing quest/bounties with Xur, in a way that he becomes more relevant.
Q: how come your loot tables are so messed up that edge transit became a meme?
A: There was an issue with the algorithm, but it has been fixed.
Q: is PvP the only reason most people still play?
A: No, people still play PvE and the PvEvP(Gambit) I do not work for Activison-Blizzard or am I a Bungie employee, just a complete stranger.

This is why many players have not returned and never will. It's also why the playerbase will continue to fall until it's back to end of life D1 values. All the while Bungie do an Apple and continue to ignore the facts in favour of their "Drag everything out" agenda. The Izanami forge unlock quest is an example of the ridiculous level of un-necessary grind that has crept into the game. That unlock quest is a chore and even the streamers have passed on unlocking forges on more than one character. Heck some now only play their mains which should have been more than enough to tell bungie that this crap should have always been account wide!

What?Someone raised is really the right forum topic?About how many I have thought on this expense. But I'll be brief.Grind depresses and does not enjoy the gameplay. It is not content and very annoying.
-
Don't feel bad. The "grind" really has me burnt out at this point aswell. I am trying to keep interest in d2 but lately I find myself sitting in orbit with nothing to do and trying to convince myself to keep playing. Hoping rng will bless us can only last for so long before we just give up. I miss when games were fun and rewarding.
-
Because of the way it’s structured it is work and not fun. Remove core from infusion completely, only need to masterwork.
-
The part about raid matchmaking I think is wrong. You in one sentence mention Gambit and Crucible afk people being an issue, now imagine matchmaking into a raid and half your team is afk? Or they don't have mics... or they speak a different language...or they are only there to troll and jump off the map with relics etc...or they have zero raiding experience and you're wanting to do a speed run... There's probably alot more reasons that matchmaking in raids would be a disaster, but the ones I mention are the first that come to mind for me. Also this is of course just my opinion and I do like your post ☺
-
For a month I grinded to hit 600-615, JUST to finish the FIRST forge for the machine gun, and I can never get it done. EVER. No matter my weapons, no matter the high-powered teammates. It’s just not happening. The boss in the end is insanely unfair, especially for people who couldn’t grind for max power. I am a passionate fan of destiny but this is a shame. If this is supposed to be equivalent to a mini raid, why did they make it matchmaking?
-
Edited by BarretOblivion: 1/3/2019 4:41:30 AM
Q: why is their still no match making for raids or nightfall?
Its because of how the raids are designed. They are too punishing to be conisdered "teaching raids or normal modes" but they are far too easy to be considered real raiding. Its wierd... but anyways unless normal modes are used as teaching tools for basic raid themes/mechanics so we aren't completely blind when they release Prestige modes and expand the encounters for Prestige... we can't have raid matchmaking. People need to understand every game that they try to use as an example of raid matchmaking... those modes you are matchmaking are the "easy modes" of those raids. They aren't even considered by thier communities to be the end game raid content... that is saved for the hard modes that you can't matchmake and instead have to LFG or form statics for.

TLDR; wah 😭
The grind is not fun. Its work
If somebody truly feels this way, it just might be a sign that he/she is ready to move on to another game or at the very least, take a break from it for a little while. Seems like your final statement is a good one. ;) I don't say that to come off as an ass, I'm quite serious about it. When I felt like D1 became nothing more than chores to complete, I moved to other games while quietly waiting for D2 to come out. I believe that if I kept trudging through the motions with D1 up until D2 released, I damn sure wouldn't be here now. I enjoyed reading through your Q and A. Some of those were pretty funny, some were pretty spot-on. :) My only real issue is with the following: OPTIONAL mm for Nightfalls might be a good idea, but plenty people wanted optional mm for Strikes. Yeah, that turned out good (heaps of sarcasm should be read into that). The only reason I would want OPTIONAL mm for Raids... The hilarity in the forums would give plenty of entertainment. To have any form of mm in the Raids would be a VERY poor decision, but what the Hell... I wouldn't even consider using it. No communication with at least 3/4's of the randoms and plenty of randoms just going in to be afk and/or wanting nothing more than a carry.

Bye Felicia.

This game isn't intended for solo players.
