Hello all,
We are actively investigating an issue where players may have lost some of their Glimmer, Bright Dust, Infusion Materials, and/or other types of game currencies. As part of the investigation, we are bringing Destiny 2 offline to prevent further loss of materials.
We will provide updates here and on @BungieHelp as we determine the cause of this issue.
11 AM Update:
We believe we have identified the cause of this issue and are working on a fix internally. Destiny 2 will continue to be offline until we have a better understanding of the timeline for this fix. We will provide another update by 12 PM Pacific.
12 PM Update:
We are testing a fix for this issue internally, including investigating resolutions that would restore missing currencies and materials to players. Destiny 2 will continue to be offline while we test this fix. We will provide another update by 1 PM Pacific.
1 PM Update:
We are continuing to perform tests of possible solutions to restore missing currencies and materials to players. Destiny 2 will remain offline until the issue can be resolved. We will provide another update by 2 PM Pacific.
2 PM Update:
We have validated a fix for this issue and will be rolling back all player accounts to how they were before Update 2.7.1 went live. Destiny 2 will remain offline for several more hours as we deploy this fix. Another update will be provided by 3 PM Pacific.
3 PM Update:
We’re continuing work to fix the issue that caused loss of currencies and materials. All player accounts will be rolled back to the state they were in at around 8:30 AM Pacific.
- Players may have to redo any progress or quests they completed between 8:30 - 10 AM PST.
- Purchases made between 8:30 - 10 AM PST will need to be redone. Silver spent during that time will be restored.
- Destiny 2 Silver purchases from the platform store will be added back to player accounts.
- "The Pidgeon and the Phoenix" Lore being removed is a separate issue and will be resolved in a future update
Another update will be provided around 4 PM Pacific.
4 PM Update:
We’re continuing to work on player account rollbacks and estimate that Destiny 2 will be brought back online at 7 PM Pacific.
Stay tuned for more updates.
7 PM Update:
Rollback for player accounts is complete and Destiny 2 servers are back online. Players may experience login issues as services return to normal.

Good luck and Godspeed to those of you running the BNGHelp accounts. As for the devs, I certainly hope they're able to find a way to return the lost materials to those that lost them. I know policy usually isn't to do so, but it may just behoove them to find a way to make it happen on this one.
-
Where's all the fanboys now?
-
I may not have had much bright dust, prisms, or any ascendant shards, but if my 20,000 gunsmith materials and 10,000 legendary shards are gone I expect my account to be filled with 100,000 silver.
-
Still can sign in to the games it's now almost 2pm. Are the servers still down or what?
-
Bungie is playing the game. The one we all payed for. Feed the Hamster, Bring Back Cayde and hire people who don't CREATE issues but actually FIX them before going live.
-
If my silver Is gone so am i
-
Yeah man, I lost like 100 ascendant shards and like 300 prisms and like 1000 of those uh, littler upgrade guys. So please put that all that back and we'll be cool okay? No need to check your records or whatever. Trust me on this one.
-
The Corridors of Time don't go down easy.
-
No update yet ???
-
I'm glad. I needed a good reason to go back and play some other games I've put off for too long. Thanks Bungie!
-
Ive lost all my glimmer an acendent shards! I was trying to master work 2 piece's of exotic armor an had 5 acendent shards just wanting 1 more now, i have known an missing 200k in glimmer! Thanks bungie. Every time you update this game you screw us up! An never fix anything just screw your players over! Thanks a bunch

Don't fret BNGHelp0. We lost much, much more when we moved from Destiny to D2.
-
After this its best for u i get a "stolen gods" emblem😂
-
It's a live Empyrean Foundation preview subtitled Empyrea strikes upfront.

Standing By. TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP YAWN TAP TAP TAP TAP YAWN TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP ZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz
-
Ever heard of playtesting? What a complete charliefoxtrot. If this results in a lot of do-overs being required, I'm done. And somebody's head should roll.
-
Is Bungie planning on refunding all these lost materials and currency? I can see a lot of players leaving if they don't at least do that much.
-
Bungie, this is bush league. Quality Control is supposed to be paramount, when it comes to releasing a physical or digital product to the public. Test before hand, not after.
-
You know that instead of testing afterwards you could test upfront to prevent this repeating cycle of update and then a shitload of errors and emergency hotfixing
-
and after such failures you may still wonder why people are unhappy with the game and go to other projects? each of your updates breaks something, many things just don't work from season 9, it feels like you don't give a damn about the players, the main thing is to make money by selling silver ...
-
On a positive note, this is probably the best moment of the season...
-
I don't have money invested in Destiny, but I do time by playing the free version. Since playing it, I've thought about upgrading so I can play all of it. However, if Bungie is unwilling/unable to replace any items lost, I'm not willing to give them any of my money, or any more of my time. Presently, I know I've lost all of my glimmer, not sure of anything else. Maybe Bethesda (?) would like my time and money seeing how they went above and beyond what some people lost do to a loophole in Fallout 76. A developer willing to make good on their mistakes is a good developer. Bungie, are you listening?
-
Do we need to report that we lost items and which ones?
