Updated 7 PM - [BUNGIE] Known Issue: Missing Currencies and Materials after Update 2.7.1
Hello all,
We are actively investigating an issue where players may have lost some of their Glimmer, Bright Dust, Infusion Materials, and/or other types of game currencies. As part of the investigation, we are bringing Destiny 2 offline to prevent further loss of materials.
We will provide updates here and on [url=https://twitter.com/BungieHelp]@BungieHelp[/url] as we determine the cause of this issue.
[u][b]11 AM Update[/b]: [/u]
We believe we have identified the cause of this issue and are working on a fix internally. Destiny 2 will continue to be offline until we have a better understanding of the timeline for this fix. We will provide another update by 12 PM Pacific.
[u][b]12 PM Update:[/b][/u]
We are testing a fix for this issue internally, including investigating resolutions that would restore missing currencies and materials to players. Destiny 2 will continue to be offline while we test this fix. We will provide another update by 1 PM Pacific.
[u][b]1 PM Update:[/b][/u]
We are continuing to perform tests of possible solutions to restore missing currencies and materials to players. Destiny 2 will remain offline until the issue can be resolved. We will provide another update by 2 PM Pacific.
[u][b]2 PM Update:[/b][/u]
We have validated a fix for this issue and will be rolling back all player accounts to how they were before Update 2.7.1 went live. Destiny 2 will remain offline for several more hours as we deploy this fix. Another update will be provided by 3 PM Pacific.
[u][b]3 PM Update:[/b][/u]
We’re continuing work to fix the issue that caused loss of currencies and materials. All player accounts will be rolled back to the state they were in at around 8:30 AM Pacific.
- Players may have to redo any progress or quests they completed between 8:30 - 10 AM PST.
- Purchases made between 8:30 - 10 AM PST will need to be redone. Silver spent during that time will be restored.
- Destiny 2 Silver purchases from the platform store will be added back to player accounts.
- "The Pidgeon and the Phoenix" Lore being removed is a separate issue and will be resolved in a future update
Another update will be provided around 4 PM Pacific.

We’re continuing to work on player account rollbacks and estimate that Destiny 2 will be brought back online at 7 PM Pacific.
Stay tuned for more updates.

Rollback for player accounts is complete and Destiny 2 servers are back online. Players may experience login issues as services return to normal.

A roll back taking this long is not a good sing, tell us the truth your "fix" ain't working is it? When you update again give us more detail, real details, this far on this problem keep it real. Also, step it up on the testing side, there's too much shit going live to production already.

Thanks for the updates! Working in IT I knew something bad happened when I heard “rollback”. That’s definitely not fun so I’m sure someone there isn’t thrilled. Anywho forget the complainers, you guys are doing a great job. And seriously thanks for keeping good backups. Sooooo glad you didn’t lose our shit ! 👍🏾 amen

Has anyone thought about what it’s like to go home at night praying to god that all your programming work doesn’t cause errors the following day to piss people off... Gosh it must be so terrifying and stressful. If you want to put blame on anyone it should be the community... Bungie created the most ambitious IP to date, and because of its immense funding plus the size of this undertaking there are going to be bugs and lots of bureaucratic nonsense with a whole production team. This is not a pac-man game where the designer, programmer, audio engineer and story artist are all the same. Also, think of it; if you are so upset at this error it means you actually really have investment and like for the game otherwise you wouldn’t give a darn. I hear you all but mostly being from a programming/networking/computer repair/ database admin, with even my little anecdotal experiences, you can see that are so many moving parts.

BNGHelp0 You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game. But,funny story for you. Remember that Centurion Oryx “took” right after you landed on the Dreadnaught? Then the Centurion and that Taken Ogre tried to stop you from killing the King? Heh. Didn't work. So the Centurion's bond-brothers are pretty angry they lost their commander. They're leading a team to blow up the Dreadnaught's core. The core goes, and most of the system goes with it. You're gonna make sure that doesn't happen.

The only reason I even know this forum exists is because my Destiny-er boyfriend and I laugh at the idiocracy of these posts. Some of you are positive and posting that, which is great. To the others, who have apparently missed work to game today, to those who had raids planned all week with your clan, to those who now can't leave their house today, and to those who are making personal attacks at the developers at Bungie calling them "gorillas pounding on a keyboard"... Just remember while they are working hard to further the development of a game so that you can collect your fairy dust and swords, you were probably starting your shift at Taco Bell (no shade) or Best Buy. So chill, and remember you are probably kind of a screw up, too.

While not thrilled about the downtime, I've been playing for a bit now and think you're still generally coming out ahead. It's an amazing game, you update often, and I haven't had more than a brief server outage before this issue. Wouldn't mind steps being taken to prevent problematic updates in the future, but if this is the rate at which they occur, it's still a great game. Cheers, and hoping to play tomorrow.

If Destiny being down for part of a day is the biggest problem you've had to deal with, then sit down and shut up 'cuz you've got a good life. The ones mewling about it being down are the same fools who cry and moan about every little bug not being fixed immediately. Bungie should do them a favor and parse these comments and simply kill the profiles of those who -blam!-. -
5 RepliesSo, if I had finished the Iron Banner quest for this season around 9AM PST, I will have to wait 3 weeks to be able to re-finish it ? And I lose all armor/weapons earned redeeming the tokens. Pretty lame. Not whinning, shit happens in development, being a software developer, I know. I'm just disappointed that a company like yours does not insure database backup right before an update. I will still play your game since I really like it. Even paid for it. Anyway, hope all will be back up online and flawless. Good luck for all those that are the cannon fodder in the front line fixing all this.

Oh no my online game is still down whatever shall I do as I am an uneducated child that can't take the time to ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING ELSE. All these negative comments are just sad, y'all have no lives if this is all you f*cking do. So what if the games down? Find something else to occupy your time instead of making yourselves look like idiots. Ninety percent of the comments I have seen are due to morons that if they TOOK THE TIME TO READ the issue that want fixed IS IN THE PATCH NOTES, or has been addressed and is having a fix worked on. Grow up.

6 RepliesSomeone needs to be nice here. The Video game industry is full of underpaid and under appreciated developers. There is so much content in Destiny 2, I can’t Belgian to imagine how difficult it is to keep it constantly updating every little thing, and maintaining a great game while constantly providing new content?!? How can so many people be so mad about a small outage?!? Go outside! Play another game for a moment! Go to the movies! Find something to do with your time than just berating bungie for trying to make your gaming experience as good and perfect as possible. Bungie does more to cater to the gamer than any other developer! I say we give them as much time as they need so they can breathe a bit, and come at this problem fresh. Take the week off bungie. You earned it.

Will pinnacle drops earned after the weekly reset but before the additional maintenance be reset as well? My team was in the middle of the Garden of Salvation raid going for the new weeks pinnacle drops. Thanks for working hard and providing an amazing game!
