If you have any ships, sparrows, ghosts or shaders in your Vault you can delete them. They can all be re-acquired from Collections. If you have any year 1 armor or weapons you can delete those as they would have static rolls and thus can be re-acquired from Collections. If you have any sunset armor, delete it. Even if you like the look of it, delete it because you can make it into an ornament on current gear. If you have any sunset weapons and you typically don't play Crucible or you avoid sunset weapons in Crucible to begin with then delete the weapon. If you have current armor that have low stats delete it. Only keep armor that have decent stats. If you've kept it because you like the look of it, you can still delete it because you can make it into an ornament for your well rolled armor. If you have exotic armor pieces in your Vault that don't have amazing stat rolls or very low stat rolls, just go ahead and delete them. You can always re-acquire the piece from Collections, Xur, or Lost Sectors. If there are exotic weapons sitting in your Vault that you haven't used for a year or more, just delete it. You can always pull a replacement from Collections. Use destinyitemmanager.com and filter for is:dupe to show you all the duplicate items you have in inventory. You can pick an item and there will be a little sub-menu called Compare. Click it and it will show you in a row the item to compare each roll. Compare the rolls and delete the ones that don't have rolls or stats you like. If there are weapon archetypes you don't like using and have rarely if ever use you might as well delete those or delete all but the best rolled version. For instance, if you don't like snipers there is no reason to have 20 Frozen Orbits in your Vault. At this point if you still have too much in your Vault then I would start looking at items in your Vault you have had for more than a year that you've never used. If you've had a weapon or armor piece for over a year and have never used it you're not going to miss it once you delete it.

Stop hoarding. You don’t need one of everything.
-
There's about to be some unemployed PvP players that might rent you some of their vault space to make ends meet.
-
use some scissors and cut off the bottum. now you have bottumless vault.

Go through your rocket launchers. Might be an unpopular opinion, but a rocket launcher is a rocket launcher. Unless it has tracking, cluster bomb, clown cartridge, or chain reaction, it's just that. A rocket launcher. Grenade launchers are kinda the same.

I like to keep three of each exotic for the 3 (well now 4) elements due to different mods n stuff.

My vault has been full since Red War campaign. I just delete stuff as I go by level of importance and duplicates. I just got rid of my Seventh Seraph armors but I have a dozen full sets of armor for each character. I would like to see an increase too but I know I have stuff I haven't used in months I could get rid of.

8 is a lot. I'm constantly at 1.

I'm a bit of a hoarder myself but still have 200 space left

Delete useless items that don't hold any actual use due to sunset anymore. If that doesn't help... Delete weapons that don't have the best perks... That'll give you some working room... Check for low stat armour and delete them, this will increase space drastically if everyone else is to be used as a example. This will help give more breathing room. Any exotic weapons? Delete them... Holding onto them is absolutely useless UNLESS it's your all time favourite weapon in which case, it's ok. We all have one we can't dismantle. This is how I personally have sorted my vault out. I play 3 characters, well 1 mainly and the other 2 for fun... My vault is filled with every hunter cloak in the game, armour sets I like and weapon rolls. White armour and weapons with random event rewards that have no real use. Keep your vault in a state if tidiness and always remember the following... If its not good perk wise, low stat or just bad. Cyberman says delete.

Tbh. I don’t understand how they haven’t just upped vault space by this point. It’s been years.

I see theres no build crafters in your comments so far. I'm about out too with very little I'd be willing to let go of with the builds I still have planned. My problem is that I don't have the right exotic rolls to complete them yet. You'll only have 2 types of people reply, ones who like variety season to season or even week to week, and those that will rock whatever they come across.

If you have duplicate weapons, find the one with the best roll and delete the rest Don’t keep any armor under 60 stats—unless they have a large spike Delete duplicate exotic armor Delete sunset stuff (but keep some of your sentimental stuff like that mindbenders with 3,000 crucible kills for example) Bonus from doing this: shards and gunsmith materials.

I feel your pain, though difficult to help when we don't know what you're double parked with! Some general tips: Firstly, do you have more than one Guardian? If yes, proceed! If no, make some mules! Second - Ghost shells, Sparrows and ships; either delete them (they can be reacquired from collections) or move them to free slots on your Guardians. Once those two are out of the way, have a look for any old resources that have been removed and are no longer worth anything - these can go unless you have a sentimental attachment. Ok, time for the hard stuff: With your weapons and Armour, try using an app like Destiny Item Manager to have a look for double ups (or greater) Ideally, look for your LEAST FAVOURITE item classes first - hate SMG's but have 12 Death Adders? Prime candidate right there. Got adept weapons as well as normal variants? Another easy delete. Work through like this slowly whittling things down and DON'T DELETE WHILST DRUNK OR OTHERWISE INTOXICATED - the hangover will be worse when you can't find your prized adept trials slingshot. All up , just gotta get tough on stuff mate but yeah, i do think we need more space.

Time to start deleting. No reason for it to even be close to full.
