Known Issue: Increase in Rutabaga Errors
A group of individuals discovered and reported an issue where players can generate more orbs than intended when triggering some supers. The team has been working on a fix for this, currently targeting December for release.
To prevent exploitation of this issue, the team has deployed some changes that will force Rutabaga errors when players attempt to reproduce the bug. With this change, we are also aware that players who experience extreme sustained framerate hitching in PvP environments may encounter this error more frequently than normal.
If you encounter Rutabaga errors when playing in PvP environments for reasons other than reproducing the orb generation issue, please respond to this thread with details on what you were doing when the error occurred.

4 RepliesI got taken to orbit for alt-tabbing while in matchmaking, yet I was fully present during games. I just wanted to look at discord or use Destiny Item Manager, but if I did I would always get booted from a queue and I have been banned from competitive crucible twice now.

I cant go to pvp, already have low graph settings, but the moment the match start I get the kicket out

I always get lag spikes when i leave destiny open for extended periods of time but after playing for a bit it goes back to normal. The problem is that probaly because of this change now this spikes are enough to disconnect me and, as i sad, restrict me from playing pvp. Please fix this fast, i dont even like pvp but i need to play some matches cause of the stasis quest

I’m not sure what I was doing at the time, but I logged in on Monday to try and do more Trials to try to still go flawless for the adept sword and I got the message that I’ve been suspended for PvP. Talking to my friends about it, they said there was an alt-tabbing exploit for super energy or something if you did it during pvp matchmaking (no I didn’t even know about this) all I can think of that I was doing, was alt-tabbing to change music on Spotify on my PC or typing in my friends’ streams on Twitch chat. I would really like to not be suspended from all things pvp for 2 weeks and miss out on the weekly trials adept rewards altogether if that’s feasible. Idk what exactly I was doing but I just know I wasn’t cheating or exploiting please.

I had a cluster bomb rocket detonate right in front of me, big frame lag, rutabaga error. Also seems really close to happening on crystal shatters and arc ultimate pops like striker or bottom stormcaller.

Every time I try to load in to a pvp match, as I load in to the match and see my ship fly at the planet and then the screen goes black, and then as I'm about to spawn (usually), I now get the Rutabaga Error message every time and get kicked to the orbit. After it happened the first time I kept trying to fix it and testing to load in to a private match but nothing has worked so far. I'm not exploiting the game, I can't even load in to the matches, I start a private match and it takes maybe 1-2 min in the loading screen to join (during the loading screen my fps is around 300 ish so its not that its so low that it would kick me) And than it kicks me right as I'm about to load in to a match. I would really appiricate some help with this, since I can't play pvp, or trials like this, thank you.

I got on my Hunter loaded the crucible was sat on my phone while waiting was about to load in and I got the error code

I'm suffering a lot with this error, it's dropping my frame rate at an absurd level, even in orbit destiny is crashing, I can't do any activity, you do maintenance but don't solve the problem

I got the error while alt tabbing back to Destiny 2 from my desktop during the team setup phase of a gambit match. If it helps, I have it set to Windowed Fullscreen mode

2 RepliesWas playing your dogshit comp playlist where everyone sits in the back with pulses so I had to open DIM to fight them and got kicked from 2 games in a row then banned for an unspecified amount of time for it. Safe to say I'm not paying $30 for your -blam!- -blam!- almost a DLC pack coming up. I've been a player since November of 2014 in destiny 1 and this random issues that affect me negatively for no reason -blam!- is getting unbearable. I'm just trying to get a weekly challenge done against incels with high impact pulses. Thanks for the unworthy ban. Its infuriating to have a company and game ive loved and given so much time and money to -blam!- me over for no reason. Cya when u patch ur -blam!-.

Today's patch hasn't even fixed the rutabaga issue. whole load of -blam!- fixes but ignoring the most damaging. OK Bungo...

Every time I try to enter a Gambit or Crucible match, I get one of these errors and get kicked before even loading in. Then the game scolds me for leaving of course, and now I'm suspended from Gambit just because I keep getting kicked. There's nothing wrong with my Internet connection or frame rate.

all i did was load into a game of control it did the showing of the players then i got the error code as much as i love this game i'd rather not bother playing due to all this because id rather not be banned for who knows how long

However, just now I was kicked to orbit from Gambit and given a warning without alt-tab at all. Also just playing a match on Control and I was kicked to orbit with this same error again after using shoulder charge. Thanks. Update: folks what's happening with this issue? I was just again entering a match on Control and the game locked up. There was no error message or kick to orbit, the game just froze up. I think this is something that requires immediate attention. Update2: control again - seemed to be going well then mysteriously another time skewed error. I was not alt-tab. Strike 3 and I'm out Update 3: the game just locks up when starting a control match and not even touching keyoboard or mouse. Is this an issue that' still being looked at?

I can't even drop on gambit. It goes through everything just before starting the match boom rutabaga error.

So, found a way around it and I was able to play raid with my friends. I had to lower all graphics settings to the lowest possible, 30 FPS max, even changed the resolution down to 1280x1024. It looks like I'm playing the 20 year old first EA Harry Potter Game from 2001, but hey, no more Rutabaga! Hopefully today's hotfix will address this issue because I was able to play full resolution 1 week ago.

happend a few times when i died i wanted to chrange eq and got kicked of alt tab sometimes trigger this too

1 ReplyI'm getting the extreme framerate hitching on sign-in. I can barely login successfully. My FPS ranges from 1-5. I've restarted the computer, switched to Fullscreen, have not alt-tabbed on startup and still have the issue. Hasn't affected any other games, so I suspect it is due to the above issue.

What a joke, I only just found out that I can’t use dim while I play and only after a whole week did I get the rutabaga error message prior to this nothing but same issues. And then you have the gall to make ppl pay more for your expansions . A bunch of clowns, keep it up though cause I’m pretty sure you’ll have little to no players soon enough

I've gotten the error code multiple times in pvp and pve. In pvp it varies from just loading into content and some intense gun fights also lead to this area code and in pve it seems to be when there is a lot happening on the screen. I can't even load into crucible or gambit content anymore it kicks me before I can enter the game.

1 ReplyI got banned from gambit on Sunday. I had the game open in windowed mode and was browsing the web while it was matchmaking. When the match was starting, I switched to full screen with alt+enter and got booted from the game for too much fps variance. This happened several times and I was temporarily banned for a while (not sure exact time, maybe an hour or two). Later, I was able to log in and play as long as I stayed in the game the whole time.

Started playing the game 4 months ago got banned from rated activities for the same issue 1 month later same thing happened last week so 3 months and still no solution. I'd rather wait more for content than get this. I'm not looking forward to the next expansion.

I've been getting this error a lot since yesterday! Tried lowering the graphic settings, it happened in prophecy, raid, I was even doing the forsaken campaign earlier and I got kicked out! No other players! It feels laggy.

Edited by Rwoarrr: 10/27/2021 10:04:37 AMI have been unable to play crucible since you have made this change because my frames drop for a few seconds to load the game at the very start of almost every crucible match I play. I'll drop to low frame for like 5-10 seconds til everything loads then my frames jump back up to be pretty consistent. Except that hasn't happened because I have been getting kicked out of every game within the first 10-20 seconds of it starting basically. My textures are on high and I guess dropping them to like low may make things load a bit faster but is this really the only fix that there is?
