Absurdly low crafting materials cap makes no sense.

Hit the cap? Just throw completed resonant drops in the vault. Why is that how we save materials instead of just having a much higher cap? Also, can we see how many of which materials we have on our character or inventory screen? Why is it nowhere to be found in any actual inventory or character menu? Just like transmog, the initial version of weapon crafting is over engineered. The grind should be using the weapon that was crafted to fine tune it to be what the user wants. Not relying on RNG for the hope of getting what you need just to make the weapon you want and having to use multiple random rolls of said weapon with perks you don’t want. It’s a good concept but this initial version is convoluted. I have been able to craft ONE of the weapons I want to craft so far. I can only imagine how long it will take to actually get to the point where someone can craft raid weapons.

  • Agreed. Wasn't the purpose of this "wEaPon cRaFtInG" to help us with the vault issue? I am out of vault space again, because of this exact reason. I am capped out on mats, so I just store them in the vault, and now I am doing the same bullshit problem I have been doing for years. Really tells me either that they did this on purpose (which is asinine) or they didn't play test anything (also asinine). I simply won't play if it doesn't get addressed soon. Not really a big deal to me. Just think their implementation of this system is about as awful as I have ever seen a crafting system in a game. Not to mention the other stupid part is, when I tried to go upgrade a weapon that I finally upgraded all the enhanced perks I wanted. I looked at the total cost of everything to complete the transaction and I didn't have enough of whatever that dorito chip looking material is, but was capped on the ones that are limited at 250. So in other words, I had to break down some red box weapons to get more dorito chips, but I got 0 of the other mats because of the stupid cap limit. Sometimes I really hate Bungie. Morons running that company.

    • All of the caps make no sense whatsoever. Bungie just like to screw with the players.

      • It does make sense tho. Just not for players. It is an actively thought through mechanism to not only semi force players to constantly engage with the new system but also to make players waste as much time as possible by not gaining additional mats (prevent hoarding). So yea it is an active system AGAINST the players. No surprise with this dev.

        • The caps probably exist to prevent hoarding, or just general sticking up. Could be a memory limit thing. Could just be so we can’t get around grinding over time. We’re either actively using the materials or we’re not an need to do a little farming if and when we get into it again. Like if next season the weapons actually looked worth crafting. All of them. They want us to need to do at least some grinding. At least that what it seems like. I think unless there is a technical reason we can’t have uncapped resources, just let us have as much as we can earn.

        • Going off your title it actually makes perfect sense. That's because it wasn't created for you nor the community. It was created for Bungie so they could use something else to show numbers among the many stupid things they have come up with.

        • It absolutely makes sense OP. Get us to grind, show investors the numbers. Profit. This has been going on since 2014. And they have zero shame in it. Dedicated players will play regardless of the grind.

        • This whole crafting thing has caused a bigger issue with vault space. Great concept. Poor execution.

        • They thought we would burn the mats crafting tons of weapons to try new perks out instead of literally hoarding them to make 1 weapon with the roll we want....

Big issue that popped up today was not getting frames to count toward the required number to fully unlock the weapon because I reached cap limit on materials. How the bleep do I spend materials if I can’t unlock a weapon? Get rid of the cap or get rid of the materials.

          • Yes, the caps should be done away with for sure. 250 is way too low. Hell, I've been accumulating so many red weapons 'for later' that I've started scrapping the ones that need more time investment to attune, i.e. the special/heavy ammo ones.

          • So delete them. Neutral elements is the biggest roadblock anyway.

          • One of my questions on crafting is what is the point of having a super high leveled craftable weapon? Like the glaive you start with unlocks everything by level 16. Is there a point for it to even continue leveling at that point? I mean it is going to level if you keep using it obviously, but im surprised they didn't just cap it where the final unlock is for a weapon. Unless they give us more in the future with leveling a crafted weapon i guess.

            • I'm full so I just delete Red Box weapons as they drop. Don't need the material so I don't need the weapons.

you only need materials for enhanced perks.. for normal perks you need 75 neutral elements per perk and you can hold 8500 there is not a material problem since you can hold 250 resonant materials and deep resonant weapons drop like candy just complete turn in and move on.

              • I noticed they nerfed the crap out of Resources on planets too. They removed them from public events and lost sectors. Probably for the battle pass.

                • How many guns are you planning to godroll farm anyway? Sounds rather useless trying to godroll everything you see. Cash in those resonant guns and stock pile the neutral elements.
