NODE.OVRD.AVALON exotic mission on Legendary is WAY overtuned

As the title says, the legendary version of the new Vexcalibur exotic mission is way too difficult. I have done it with a team and I almost did it solo. But, the average player will likely never get the catalysts for the new glaive... The overall difficulty increase that we got in Lightfall is too much, IMO. It is going to be stearing people away from the game and not to it...

  • Just completed it just now, and not gonna lie, I got carried a lot by an lfg random, so props to OO629 for the help with this, not gonna lie, the anxiety and sweat on this quest is wild. The star crossed mission was nowhere near as bad or as difficult as this one. Not even close. I do feel a bit of a kick in the nuts that I was only awarded 1 catalyst perk. But oh well. It's been an experience.

  • I can barely get through the second part of the first challenge in that.. it is just punishing for those who don't have that kind of time let alone the company to take that kind of punishment.

      • Seriously WTF? was doing activity got to end boss and got kicked out at end phase just before boss death. No check point. Their is nothing wrong with my end. Not Happy took ages for me to get to end for nothing wasted about 2 hours.

        • Yep Looks horrible After 50 + tries I finished the Campaign on legendary. By finished I mean I cheesed Calus in the first section. On second part, I went in with a plan!! He effed my plan so hard I was desperate and pulled of a Cheese so great Wisconsin is calling. I won’t say what I did, because I will need to do it again for my roommate. But I had to cheese it to do it. I shouldn’t. Can’t wait to die more in the leg sectors that are insane now.

With an LFG’s team After 2 hours of play. 🥵 It has been fatiguing, hard, the res token in an exotic quest are the anxiety part of the mission. You have to deliver almost flawlessly..or be brought back at the start of the encounter. Most people just quit. And you have to do it the same because nobody could join mid race . It could be frustrating, Like Al LOT more than a raid / nightfall GM. The motes phase requires you almost locked loadouts (bubble titan, well , invisible hunter) to be successful . But in the end it’s satisfying to kill Brakion, every mistakes makes you learn more on how to cope with the mission, the DPS, the pace of all of it

        • My youngest son and I ran it on normal. We got it done, but I don’t want to even think about that thing on Legend.

        • This mish to me makes a statement that Raids can have Matchmaking. I went in solo at first but had an issue in the death circle section. So I went and found someone. Started from the beginning ( they didn have the CP and didnt want to join me) anyways.. We did everything pretty fluid, when we got to the Symbol Shooting part, NO MICS, we watched to see who would do what, I focued on symbols while he crowd controlled everything. He had Strand, I had Well of Rad ( Hunter and Warlock) We continued this up to Brakion.. fluid, no issues, understanding each others gameplay. We added a 3rd person at the Death Circle section and this was once again, smooth fight, everyone knew what to do and no issues. As for the Brakion fight.. It was like we all thought the same thing.. We will rotate each Symbol Shooting on who controls enemies and who shoots symbols.. It was a breeze. Now I think the Normal Raid Difs should have MM.

        • I like how all players who call the OP out havent the faintest clue the OP is talking about Legendary mode for the mission. I’ve actually ran it and finished it and i can tell you its way too hard, insanely hard. I was the minimum power you could enter with 1815 and i was being melted with max resil builds and void resist mods. No minotaur should 3 tap me when it fires full auto, a single wyvern bolt shouldn’t kill me. Brakion having the aim of a god and firing full auto isn’t fun The game actively punishes you for playing it co-operatively the scaling is too much, making enemies have more health and deal more damage is insane. Health sure but damage? How does running 3 people increase my health? Its terrible So as someone who’s actually finished the mission on legend i will say its way too hard

        • Simply I just don't understand why most legend content has overcharged and surge modifiers active to make things easier for players but for some odd reason but you think is a good idea not to have these modifiers active for the legendary Avon mission... I'm pretty sure these modifiers were active in the legendary Avon mission there wouldn't be so much people complaining about the difficulty issues in the first place because just imagine how lost sectors legend lost sectors would be difficult without these modifiers active it would in some cases be almost impossible to complete...

          • I was doing okay until I jumped for a ledge that was up against a wall. Bungle had made it a hole instead so I fell. Since I’m not a professional jumping monkey, Bungle can shove their glaive because I am not doing that crap again. Lightfail was a waste of money.

          • Just let it be difficult FFS. We finally have challenging content and instead of enjoying it and rising to the occassion people would just rather whine until the loot is brought down to their level for them to have. So damn sad, man.

            • I ran it on normal yesterday solo and it was pretty fun. I figured legendary would be tough. I was planning on running it with a fireteam. What did your team run for ad clear and dps? I ran a Hollow Denial with repulsor brace that did a ton of work. DPS I tried a few different things.

                    I think it's properly tuned for an activity that is supposed to be hard. Last season I was soloing the Legend Exotic mission with no deaths. This time I actually needed a fireteam. All that's left is to find the most optimal strats. Very salifying.

                      • Hey so your best bet is to bring a tether hunter and welllock; both of which need to be able to repeatedly pop supers and make orbs. That takes care of the first 2 encounters; the boss is a different story. It’s best to run gally with 2 rockets, but don’t use it in the first phase. Strand is viable. Once he’s damage gated, going through the portal despawns ads. Have 1 person the code and the other protect. The moment he’s damagable just unload rockets and tether. You want to melt him to force his 3rd phase. Kill all the remaining vex and what my team do was just chilled in the room and got full supers before finishing the fight. Last phase it’s best to drop tether and focus the boss while moving. Movement is key. I hoped this help.

                        • Yeah man you're not the only one there are tons of game journalists who were saying the exact same thing as you are.. however the biggest thing that they point out that the issue is balanced not the difficulty enemies have way too much benefit over the players more health more damage they have modifiers that can increase their overall defense like crazy when you combine multiplicity with iron.. I just think we need to have more modifiers active that can give us more of a survivability in that kind of situation the difficulty doesn't need to be reverted it needs to be reworked! https://www.forbes.com/sites/paultassi/2023/03/08/did-bungie-make-destiny-2-too-hard-with-lightfall/ Anybody can make a good build but the problem is if there's modifiers active that will make your enemies much more stronger than you regardless of your build there is clearly a balance issue. We had that same issue with division 2 when legendary difficulty was first introduced Ubisoft literally had to make at least 10 hot fixes just to improve balance just to make legendary difficulty playable! They also have the same issue as well constant bullet sponges but division 2 doesn't have infinite ammo so if that kind of mindset it was much worse with division two. You could even check out Reddit people are saying the exact same stuff that you are saying and many others are saying but the key is always balanced there's not enough balance nobody likes the way the difficulty is but people like surge and overcharge. Supposedly people are saying that it might get better if bungee buffs the base damage of primary weapons that basically having 25% increase damage with surge is not enough!
