error code:monkey
I just started playing the game again after a 2-3 year hiatus. purchased lightfall + annual pass and every time I start the first mission and kill the first enemy, I get error code monkey. any fix?

Having the same issue here. I've been away from the game for several years. I saw Cayde in the new teaser and wanted to come back. Installed on the PS5 , logged in as my hunter and as soon as I damage the first enemy in the first Light Fall mission, I get sent back to orbit. I've selected another world and can run around just fine until I damage an enemy. I can go to the tower and do everything there. Thought my PS5 was having issues, so I downloaded it on Steam, linked the accounts, setup the cross save and same exact issue. Play my hunter and as soon as I damage the first enemy on the first Lightfall missions, I get booted back to orbit with error code Monkey. My son downloaded Destiny 2 a few weeks ago and has never played it before and his is working fine. So definitely seems to be an issue with Legacy characters.

Similar situation. I’m returning after not playing since a little after Destiny 2 launched. Online features seem fine. Can join the tower, get onto planets and start missions. The moment I damage an enemy I get error code monkey disconnect. I got a new ISP a month ago and I know Destiny can be a bit demanding with open NAT so I’ve been fiddling about with setting a static IP, using LAN, switching off UPnP, port forwarding, changing DNS servers, rebooting router and reinstalling Destiny 2. All in different combinations over about 6 hours. But I guess it’s just a weird new bug that is happening to old returning accounts.

No wayyyyyy...... It's been this long?! Since Wednesday?! C'mon...... Other Errors, at least they can play the game. We can't even shoot in a looter shooter game! Holy, this is pure BS tbh.

Bungie hasn't even mentioned this bug in their list, so I doubt this will be addressed anytime soon.

Yep, if you create a new character it doesn't seem to be an issue, but obviously that sucks. It's the only way I can play right now, and I just came back from multi-year hiatus too. Certainly something to do with our legacy characters.
