I’m gonna say something a lot of young people don’t enjoy hearing You’re not entitled to get everything you want in the game… I want Necrochasm but I don’t expect the game to make it simple and I don’t want to grind Crota so guess what? I’m not getting Necro. I want a better Indebted Kindness but I don’t want to farm the dungeon. So guess what? I’m stuck with what I got. GOD Rolls need to be very rare. It’s what gives them value. If everyone got them the game wouldn’t be worth playing. The feeling of getting that GOD Roll is what keeps people coming back. Also it literally takes 20-30 minutes to get the curated ones by farming the loot cave in GOA. They made every Coil weapon craftable and they are -blam!-, have no value and everyone has them. It also kills the activity once you obtain every craftable weapon which didn’t take long. I’ve been mainly a solo player playing since the first month of D1. I have a full time job and two kids. I’m the farthest thing from a streamer and love that RNG is back.

We were promised plentiful shiny variant drops during the limited-time event. Running 450+ waves of Onslaught to receive not even one shiny is the opposite of plentiful. Bungie devs were dishonest in their livestream.
They made every Coil weapon craftable and they are -blam!-
That's your opinion.
It also kills the activity once you obtain every craftable weapon which didn’t take long.
Your comparison between The Coil and Onslaught is invalid. The Coil lasted how long? Around six months. The shiny variant limited-time period only lasts about a month and a half and then they're gone forever. Gathering all the crafted weapons didn't kill The Coil and that's because it's still worth doing because the rewards at completion respect the time invested. Onslaught takes twice the amount of time and shiny drops are probably around 5% are the rewards as a whole are extremely lackluster.
I have a full time job and two kids. I’m the farthest thing from a streamer and love that RNG is back.
The whole purpose of this limited-time period was to gather as many shiny variants as possible until they're gone. It's the same as McDonald's releasing a limited-time cup that will never be available again and customers only have a month to get as many of them as possible with each Happy Meal they buy. Did you have to hunt for the cup? No, it was announced and given to you with your meals. You didn't have to farm for it or hunt for it, you just needed to be there to get them. The drop rate is way, way too low and even though the Onslaught activity can be fun, it doesn't feel rewarding at all. If you and a few others are happy with how things are and at least 90% of the community is feeling unhappy, then obviously we are right and you are wrong; majority rules. And when it comes to live service games, majority is what matters most. It doesn't matter whether the content was free, (which is wasn't because we technically paid for it) it doesn't mean anyone should suffice for how bad it is.
The feeling of getting that GOD Roll is what keeps people coming back.
Gambling addict mentality. RnG weapons are of a bygone era of looter games where there wasn't much content or otherways to incentivise players and was the main crutch of replayability. Destiny does not need RnG loot on top of all of its other facets of replayability. Players pushed a lot just to get weapon focusing and eventually later on Bungie gave us weapon crafting while not perfect kept players from burning out and resenting the game for it. Now we've gone back to pure RnG drops with ITL, most players that get their god rolls will think its fine because they got luck of the draw but will you get that everytime for the forseeable future? For me RnG loot has killed my enjoyment of Onslaught because it feels like its overstayed its welcome and with how its designed it can't really be quickened in any meaningful way so you are stuck with a flat amount of time for rewards which makes it more annoying to engage with.

Brother this isn't about entitlement this is about you getting your gambling fix. Please find a casino and stop pushing your addict ideals onto destiny

  • The “you will own nothing and be happy” argument is not exactly the best hill to die on. Gamers should absolutely feel entitled to the content that they have paid for. Just because I have poured thousands of hours into the game to get my gear doesn’t mean I want everybody else to do the same or else it invalidates the worth of the gear. Having more free time than someone else should not be the metric that quantifies a weapon’s value. I want other players to experience the same god rolls and gear as me without having to feel like the game is sucking the life out of them. I would rather the game be focused more on engaging and fun gameplay loops instead of being a glorified slot machine where the currency is your time investment.

  • Best sentiment on here, and expressed articulately. I 💯 agree. I remember having to wait 6 months for my 1st Gjallarhorn. It was bloody awful. I thought that Bungie wanted to get away from this appalling RNG Loot model?
