Power Creep - At the time it WAS an issue, and The Final Shape is the VERY LAST DLC of the series. It's the end. It's the final push. After that it'll be the Episodes stuff and that's just a rotating mode letting us play old content. The game is not changing anymore after Episodes, it'll be done. No new weapons, no new armor. No possibility of Power Creep. This is their way of saying "since the main reason we sunset these is gone now, have them back, updated and ready to go". Game Stability - The engine they were using back then WAS having stability issues. It's a new engine now, and they've updated their systems. It's no longer an issue either. Game Memory - The game has gotten much smaller. 114.32gb is what my storage shows. Wanna know what it was before they vaulted? My storage showed 147gb before The Great Vaulting. And the 114.32 is AFTER multiple DLCs and adding new content, so you can imagine how much was actually shaved off with the vault. 147gb was their breaking point of saying "we need to downsize" and right now they're at 114.32. So they can add another 32.68gb of content before they hit that same point, and given the engine changes and optimization changes, it will take them longer to hit that point. So all of the reasons they gave were 100% legitimate AT THE TIME. Things change, and this is an example of that. The reasons for sunsetting are gone, they're no longer valid, and so they're unsunsetting. This is a POSITIVE move. Stop looking for reasons to be angry and just enjoy the game, my god.

Holy Bungie apologizer. Like for real, you’re not serious with this horseshit reply right? You’re joking right? All our Black Armory stuff gone, all cool Levi stuff, tangled shore So much lost content And here you are being the biggest bootlicker I’ve seen this year yet. Congratulations “Its so we can have 30gb more space” The Circus called they want their clown act back

  • Never played the Leviathan raid, played the other mode there all of twice, wasn't impressed. Tangled Shore had my all-time least favorite strike (if I had to hear Matt Mercer say "MMMUUURDERER...DDDEEAAAD THHIIIIING..." one more time I swear to god...) and wasn't a very interesting place imo. Black Armory was a boring activity and the one weapon I got that I actually half-liked was a Heavy Machine Gun that I only ever used when my clan would ask me to throw it on instead of whatever Heavy I was actually having fun with at the time. If you look through my history you'll see I'm not a Bungie Apologizer. I gave them hell over sunsetting at the start (I didn't see why it was necessary at the time either), and over the DCV (which I am STILL unhappy about), and I'm pretty sick and tired of the warlock stealth-nerfs (I'll never get over the fact they took away handheld nova's self-kill, then immediately stealth-nerfed it so it'd self-kill again under certain resilience without saying anything) And on top of it all, I didn't delete any of the sunset weapons I had fun with back then, so I know what to look for from the new sources they're adding them to. I'm also not one of these meta-sweats that won't run anything unless it's THE top tier. All of the things you listed off as reasons it was bad mean absolutely nothing to me. They mean nothing to any player that started after the DCV and sunsetting. They mean nothing to any player that just didn't care back then either. Give me reasons that are objective, not subjective, and I'll listen.

  • So they have to remove content to reduce disk space? Funny that we have technology to reduce space consumption but not used by bungie like this one from the game next door

  • Someone else already responded and they had more information on it than you or I do. Fact is, Bungie DID have to remove content to reduce disk space. Why? Because this worthless community won't let them do anything that takes time or resources. If they focused on fixing the major issues, everyone would whine that they aren't putting out enough content. If they focused on fixing the small issues, everyone would whine that they aren't putting out enough content. If they focus on putting out content, everyone whines that they aren't fixing anything. They lose no matter what so it was the fastest, least-resource-draining way to achieve the goal.

  • Not a bungie defender, but y'all think anyone who says anything that isn't hating on them is a bootlicker, even if it's an exception to their usual behavior.

  • They can't put out content while fixing small and major issues with 1000 people? How inefficient are they when the one I linked do all of them with only 300 people? 31 DLC worth of content for free to date

  • Ah yes, proprietary solutions they personally developed with lots of time and money that are neither publicly available nor necessarily fully applicable to other games. Because everyone is always saying how destiny has plenty of good fun content and they can totally spare significant resources to overhaul existing systems rather than focus on new content.

  • They can't overhaul existing systems while putting out content with 1000 people and $100 a year price tag? Shows that they're inefficient and makes you wonder where all the money goes to with 1 million preorders they were so proud of, that's $100 million dollars used for everything but destiny

  • And you don't understand how a conversation works, do you? One person makes a point, backs it up. The other person either agrees or makes a counterpoint, either way backing it up. So enlighten me, how does data storage work? You know, instead of just accusing me of something and leaving it at that?

Well when you clearly post information that is completely wrong no amount of justification you have for saying it doesn't change the fact that the information you posted was completely wrong. You said bungie switched to a new game engine when in fact they didn't change the game engine at all and if they would have the entire game would have been offline for years because you can't simply just switch to a brand new engine. Seeing as you are someone who barely plays the game I guess I wouldn't expect you to know that kind of basic knowledge. On top of that the file size for this game is overloaded and its size is due to an issue that has been present with the tiger engine since it's first use for halo reach and that is the inefficient and inability to properly compress data that is actively in use.

  • I'd be ok with 200gb and have access to everything I paid for.

  • Oh hey Grackle. I know you lol Played D1 against you ages ago, gave my buddies and I a great laugh with one of your kills on me. Been doing okay? Major issue of storage is that they want the game to be accessible. You might be okay with 200gb, and I might be, but not everyone can manage that. They don't want people to turn down their game because "Well I can get this but I won't have space for anything else". So they have to keep game size down to a reasonable amount to make it as accessible as possible for as many players as possible.

  • Not everyone can manage 200gb? Are you joking? Its 2024 not 2004. Any sane person would pick content over disk space But not you.

  • It's more a matter of Destiny 2 not being the only game most people play. Most people play a variety of other games, which means if one single game takes up 200gb of disk space, they're less likely to grab it if they have limited disk space and have to pick and choose what to dedicate it to. Any sane person would pick content over disk space, yes, which is why if someone has a choice between 2-3 games they can play the entirety of from start to finish, or one single game they can only play current content for, and only if they pay for the DLC and Season Pass, they're less likely to get D2 because it's less for more, not more for less.

I have a 500gb ssd. The other is a hard drive 1Tb U think I give a -blam!- if D2 was 300Gb? 400? No Gaming addicts dont care. Just plug in an external SSD, theyre dirt cheap now too Like some others have said we should have had the option to select and download dlcs, make the game as big or small as u want. Other games can do it apparently Either way thats not even the biggest point here What u are missing is they are going back on their word AND feeding us OLD CONTENT AGAIN Content that now doesnt even matter to most anymore. We wanted to keep our stuff back then, and we couldnt. And their terrible vault system made us delete it all too

  • I'm glad that you have the storage to justify it. Not everyone does, and your situation is not universal. Dirt cheap to you could be far too expensive to someone else, and it's not a point of pride to be a gaming addict. From a business standpoint, you want your game to be as accessible to as many people as possible. And a 200gb game is not accessible to everyone. Not everyone can afford to burn their paychecks on extra storage, and even among those that can, not everyone is willing to. Bungie knows this and wants to keep their game to a "manageable" size to appeal even to those who can't afford much storage. This is also not the other games you're referring to. Bungie is not those other developers, and while they should be held to the same standards, the fact of the matter is that they consistently fall short of those standards and should be expected to do as such. "Content that doesn't even matter to most anymore" is also a very biased opinion. What about the new players who never got to experience the content pre-vaulting? What about veteran players who adored that content and are happy to be able to play it again? I understand that you personally are bitter over a lot of things, but do not apply your hatred to everyone else. I promise you, there are more than enough people glad to see the content return to justify it. And I cannot help but laugh at the irony of a brand new DLC, with brand new enemy types, brand new subclass, new weapons, new maps, and more new content is being belittled as bungie "feeding us old content again".
