The part that stings is all that fluff about sunsetting was needed to quell power creep, game stability, and game memory/storage space seems to have been all BS lies they told us and it was all easily tossed aside as soon as it benefited them. Doesn’t build trust in a time when Bungie should be building back trust - IMO
Sunsetting was a solution to power creep. It let them continue to release desirable loot without needing new loot to get stronger and stronger. Now they are just letting power creep run wild, with their solution being the occasional buff to enemies instead. Both approaches have their own merits. Neither is the objective correct approach. Game stability and storage size is compelling unrelated to level capping gear.

Sunsetting only would've worked if they only produced new loot. They simply couldn't produce enough new loot to compensate for what is lost and reprising weapons would be counter intuitive to the whole point.

And there is no sunsetting anymore.

Doesn't even matter because if they don't produce more loot than what they already have then its just a rotating arsenal, and at that point why bother having loot instead of just a menu where you select each gun? When sunsetting first happened a huge swathe of weapons were sunset and there was very little to replace it, and most of those weapons that were sunset were already powercrept or static 1 perk roll guns. With an FPS RPG it really doesn't work to keep people in a forever loop of the same level of power even if it slightly oscilates now and then it would lead to player disatisfaction with most loot being the same as stuff they already have with a different expiry date on it. Power creep is inevitable and there is no way to combat it since eventually the game ends with you being at the pinnacle of power.
