Here's a suggestion to the PVP strike team.
IMHO the best way to please the most passionate PVP player base, and to increase the engagement for new and casual players, is to let people choose what, who, and how they play. Instead of every week having multiple different changing playlists, game modes, and matchmaking styles that distribute the player base thin please let us choose what we want to play.
1) Allow us to choose with settings who we want to play against:
Crossplay pool: Console / PC / any
Matchmaking input type: Controller / Mouse and Keyboard / any
Matchmaking criteria: Skill / Ping / any
2. Allow us to select the game modes we want to queue to:
Survival / Control / Rumble / Supremacy / Trials / ... etc / any
3. Allow us to select the maps we want to play in:
Eternity / Javelin-4 / Multiplex / ... etc / any
You'd have one single queue of people who'd like to play and people couldn't complain about matchmaking, maps, modes, queue times, etc as it'd be everyone's own choice.

The population is problematically low as it is, dividing up the player pool like this further would be a really bad idea

Edited by eeriearcade: 5/4/2024 11:54:59 AMConsidering Comp struggles to match me within my rank, I assume having dozens of options that divide the population is not feasible. You say it’s one queue, but every time someone makes a choice, the queue gets split.

A great idea that will likely be ignored.
-
Not enough players to do that. That's why they keep pigeon holing us into what we have now.
-
It doesn't seem like the game would be able to do all of those things at the same time as it is now. Who knows what the future holds though. The most important one for me would be able to choose between gameplay quality based and calculated skill based.

Hi and thanks for the great wishlist.....will need an Ahamkara to sort this one LOL! I agree on both sides re: player count and Qol, but surely #3 could be implemented in this day and age? 3. Allow us to select the maps we want to play in: Eternity / Javelin-4 / Multiplex / ... etc / any

There just are not enough players
-
I'm gonna play you.

You think anyone at Bungie, let alone the PvP "strike team", slowly trickling out trash has enough braincells to consider any of it let alone act on it?
-
This is the 'mixtape' matchmaking Titanfall 2 introduced and Halo MCC has now. It only really works with a large player pool and everybody will just head to Control or Clash anyway.
-
Preface: I wish. They can't do this because the player base isn't large enough to support it. If we had CoD numbers, sure, but we don't. Not to mention it would create much longer queue times, which people would absolutely complain about, even if they did it to themselves lol. But again, I wish. Loading up Javelin Clash at any time would make me a happy person.

All of this would be awesome, problem is, the playerbase for PvP isn’t large enough to support even more splitting of it.
