A Pirate's Life For Me!

I'm a PS5 player, and I've been looking for a game like Sea of Thieves for a long time Rare was cooking with that one. Just wondering if anyone plays SoT and has tips for new players, as well as secret itens such as the fallen sea dog's lantern Edit: ty for all the tips! Edit 2: I successfully completed my first world event and got back to an outpost to sell!

  • Man I love that game the only major issue I have is you need like 3 hours minimum to go on an adventure

  • If SoT had an offline mode, I’d probably still play it every now & then. It’s a really relaxing game when you don’t have other players trying to murder you all the time. The best sailing mechanics in any game that I’ve played. It was really fun back when I had buddies to play it with. Me & my friend would have a blast just sailing around & fighting skellies. The best tip I’ve got is that if you get in a cannon fight, stop moving. That’s not a joke. Surprisingly, a ship that’s not moving (but still turning to aim cannons) tends to win against a ship sailing in circles. The only catch is it makes you easy to board. Also, be a good sport. Don’t attack randos for no reason. Only fight if they shoot first.

Sloops (2 player max) are the fastest with full sail and are very maneuverable. Brigantines (3 player max) are fast and versatile if you have a decent crew and can be sailed with two people who are paying attention. Galleons (4 player max) are very cool looking but very hard to sail even with a full crew. In a Sloop v Galleon, the Sloop wins every time. Brig fights can go either way, they’re a wonderful middle ground. Sloops are amazing to start tho. Skeleton ships. Skelly sloops (and Skelly Galleons) are very good dogfight practice and they get decent loot. Emissary is worth it. If you get loot that sells to a certain faction while running the same emissary you get a great boost. Just be careful of people running Reapers Bones emissary. They’ll show up on the map with an hourglass symbol. They will sink you and sell your flag, and the higher level flag the more of a target. And always be sure to lower the emissary before you get off. Google. If you’re confused, Google it. I’ve been playing for years and I still Google crap all the time 😂. There’s no shame in it

I’ll have to ask my brother and cousin, they absolutely love SoT. I haven’t played in a while lol so I don’t even know what they’ve changed since I last played. Tips I can think of right now? Uhhh everyone is mean so fight first talk later. And apparently they changed how the ship damage works? So don’t try to ram enemy ships during a fight. Not that I’ve done that or anything…

      • -Don’t trust anyone. Even if they say they are friendly, always be ready to fight back. -Turn your ships lanterns off. Makes you easy to see in the distance. -Learn to sword jump. Block with your sword, hold attack, and jump right as the lunge starts. Land in water to go really far -When nearby other players (or at a fort of fortune, the big red skull in the sky), check for people hiding on your ship. Also, look at YouTube. There are tons of beginner guides.
