I understand that a paywall is a necessary hurdle to deter cheaters, but as somebody who does not have the money for Lightfall, I am unable to access this gamemode which I previously thoroughly enjoyed.
Here is my suggestion for a middle ground:
-a "Lightfall/Recent Expansion status" given when a player purchases the necessary expansion. This status allows the player to queue in trials against other players who have also purchased the necessary expansion. In contrast, if they lack this status, they will queue against other people who lack status. If a team has a player(s) who do not have the status queuing with players who do, they will still be within the non-status queue pool.
How does this sound?

Trials population is already dead. Further splitting of the population would be a killing blow. That along with removing the deterrent to cheaters.

Crucible is almost entirely free to play, so Trials is the main incentive to spend money (as far as PvP is concerned). Although Crucible has its issues, it’s already a very good deal for anyone who hasn’t got money to spend.
