Can someone explain how the changing of the comp point system was supposed to be for better? it feels so much worse than before. so does matchmaking? am i the only one feeling this right now? the positive points dont seem to correlate and neither do the negative points.

Edited by A_mo: 10/20/2024 8:09:35 PMIts really too early in the season to tell and like everyone else is saying its understandably bad because the system is supposedly figuring out how good everyone is. The thing about comp is that if it were ever to get better the matchmaking probably won't feel super great for a pretty substantial cross section of players at first. Not saying that's what's happening and I'm not having nonstop awesome matches, but one thing that does seem to be the case is that certain things are a lot closer to even than they have been in the past even if they aren't there or even all that close. Either way anything good happening to that mode would most likely look like a mess to a lot of people, and as much as people may want to that's not all bungie's fault. If you believe silly stuff then when it goes away its bound to look strange. Not saying that's what's happening but it is interesting that as bad as this is its nowhere near the worst and definitely nowhere near the most unfair that mode has ever been. And it could be completely broken right now for all I can tell.

1 ReplyDon't worry about your rank, and play to have fun. You'll eventually end up in the Rank you belong.

2 RepliesIt always feels disastrous at beginning of seasons. The reason is bungie resets elo, so the system needs time to properly place players.

I just posted this on another thread and will repeat it here. I believe there are three possible explanations why Bungie is not more transparent about how comp points work: - Bungie is concerned the explanation is too complicated and will only confuse players, leading to more backlash - Bungie is concerned that revealing too much about how the points work would be detrimental to the game mode. If players know how it works, they might figure out a way to game the system, quit matches at an even higher rate, or simply not play unless they feel they have a significant opportunity to gain points - Bungie has seen the data over ten years and knows the comp player base is small and persistent and the population won’t grow much if they provide more information. - One more I just thought of: Comp does not make Bungie any money. There is little for Bungie to gain by investing more in this game mode, despite what they say about Comp rank serving as a part of a Guardian’s identity.

4 RepliesThe fact that people still play comp at this rate of the game is insane to me. Unless you’re going for the comp weapon I understand that but why play after that. The system is so bad at the beginning of the season that it’s seems very unfair.

It's 100% worse. Maybe the points are better but if they are, the matchmaking is 10x worse. I've gone back to where I started at the beginning of the season twice now and will never play comp again. 9 losses in a row with the absolute worst teammates while I had over a 2kd and most damage several games. They're literally making it worse so everyone buys marathon and I'm not taking the bait. BO6 is almost out and then gb

Agreed. + 92 points for a win. -100 for a loss. Whether team mates leave or not. I’d say in about 25% of my games this season teammates have quit out. Probably 50% of games at least one person on my team or enemy team have quit.

Agree it feels terrible from how many points is lost to the team balancing. And I’m hearing it a lot from others

2 RepliesPeople still play comp?

It's the same for me. I went 1 for 7 last week and each loss was a complete blow out. This week has been better (not as many blowouts and games ending early) so maybe Tuesday's update fixed the matchmaking issue. Scoring does seem off. Some games I know I had more kills than given credit for. I started one game with 5 kills but the total after the game was 7. Absolutely no way I only got 2 kills the rest of the game. Some may have gone to a teammate but I do a lot of 1-on-1 battles so figure there surely was more than 2 solo kills. That's not as important as the matchmaking.

5 Replieswin+50, lose-150 hahahahahahaha

1 Replysolo vs 2 stack. 3 solos vs 3 stack. any questions?
