Before anyone says they are the same thing...Fireteam finder and matchmaking are not. You use fireteam finder if you want specific requirements to do whatever activity. For the average strike, gambit, crucible, seasonal activity enjoyer, matchmaking works well because it's a quick in and out with random players (good or not). There is no commitment to making an LFG, waiting for players to join, and no scenarios where you no longer want to play with said pre-made fireteam so you have to make an awkward Italy (IYKYK) audible call.
I don't see why matchmaking isn't in everything. If it's random blueberries skipping cutscenes or something like that, the option to solo or make your own pre made fireteam should be a thing also.
Players like options. They don't necessarily have to be options everyone would use, but the more options, the better. And it's just a basic QoL that would greatly affect queuing in a positive way with no negative effects.

Agreed.

The biggest problem with Bungie since D1 is that they keep forcing us to find people or make friends just to play the game, and always forget that some of us don't want friends and just wanna play alone or just have a regular MM with randoms so everyone goes their own way at the end.

Huge!!!! Agree!!!
-
Yeah, needs matchmaking. Takes too long to solo these
-
MM should be on all seasonal and playlist activities. Everything bar GM's, Raids and Dungeons.
-
Everything should have MM. Now, the only reason I can come up with to why they avoid it in certain activities is probably because they want a reasonable completition rate and that people don't start to argue because it's too hard. There are two ways of circumcventing this: 1. Add a disclaimer saying something like "challenging/time consuming activity, results may vary, come prepared". You can also add a requirement for a mic. Sure, Bungie can never guarantee that someone actually uses it but it should be technically possible to have a check for it. 2. For raids specifically it would require a previous compleition to be able to join MM.

Edited by eliteg: 10/31/2024 3:14:54 AMWell said 👏 (I've been saying this about difference between matchmaking and FTF since it came out.) but just know it made some of us try the expert solo > and it is not bad.. very doable good amount of loot.. this is not same craziness difficulty of last year.

Just for reference, Fireteam Finder isn't working either, which actually makes it twice as bad. Personally I'm all in favour of options; then if people do or don't want to use matchmaking, it's up to them
-
Agreed. That was a dumb decision from Bungie. Another one. They just can't stop making them.

It's not really needed for it. Expert for it is easy enough to solo seeing as how the only timer you have is how many headless you take down before the boss spawns, and you don't even need to take a single 1 down. There's also only 1 champion during the whole thing that despawns when the boss spawns.
