Before anyone says they are the same thing...Fireteam finder and matchmaking are not. You use fireteam finder if you want specific requirements to do whatever activity. For the average strike, gambit, crucible, seasonal activity enjoyer, matchmaking works well because it's a quick in and out with random players (good or not). There is no commitment to making an LFG, waiting for players to join, and no scenarios where you no longer want to play with said pre-made fireteam so you have to make an awkward Italy (IYKYK) audible call.
I don't see why matchmaking isn't in everything. If it's random blueberries skipping cutscenes or something like that, the option to solo or make your own pre made fireteam should be a thing also.
Players like options. They don't necessarily have to be options everyone would use, but the more options, the better. And it's just a basic QoL that would greatly affect queuing in a positive way with no negative effects.
