BUNGIE, YOU WANT PEOPLE TO USE SPECTRAL BLADES? THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO ...

Make an exotic Chest piece or Arms that makes it so that kills AND damage from Spectral Blades extends the duration but also applies Weakening, Suppression, and Volatility to everything it hits and around it. Then once the super is up allow for Void weapon kills to refund super energy. That's how you get people excited about it in my opinion.

Nothing will change until they fix its hit registration (which they won’t), or until they adjust the super fit a playstyle that isn’t about spamming light attacks. Reworked Spectral Blades: New Mechanic: Death Mark - This Debuff is unique to Spectral Blades - Deathmark is applied by Light Attacks - Doing a Heavy attack against a marked enemy consumes the mark and boosts the heavy attack SIGNIFICANTLY (I’m talking like 6x or 7x the normal damage of a normal heavy) -Light attacks weaken enemies instead of heavy attacks. This would change the super from being an ad clear super, which doesn’t fit with it’s theme into a more assassin style super that focuses on taking out high priority targets or dealing boss damage. Not to mention that in ad clear it has to compete with Threadrunner and Arcstrider which clear ads better AND do better damage. It would move the super away from light span and make it more focused on the Light + Heavy combo which is far more consistent (still not that consistent but at least better) than light spam. These changes would give its own place. Even with Star Eater added on it would be around 1.6M damage which would still be a bit below Behemoth + Star Eater (which does around 1.8M to 2M) I feel like given how bad this super is it deserves a solid change.

  • That'll just create the same problem we had with Thundercrash and Chaos Reach where it's only usable with an Exotic. Bungie needs to move away from that, and start buffing these Supers to acceptable levels. The baseline should be about 70-80% of the damage output of Silkstrike and Bladefury. It's utterly ridiculous that there's such a wide power gap between them and the other roaming Supers. Spectral Blades, Fists of Havoc, Winter's Wrath, and Stormtrance, all need substantial improvements to make them viable beyond just taking out red bars in low level content.

  • A rule of game design I've learned: Never balance aspects of a game around specific player options. Specific options are usually very limited. If you balance content around the players choosing a specific option, then that becomes the baseline. This means players choosing that option will be at the baseline. But then what if a player wants to choose something else? They are now below the baseline and are therefore being punished for not choosing said option. "Fixing" a super with an exotic is bad game design. If a super is broken or bad, fixing it with an exotic will only create a new problem in that it's only viable if you use that exotic. So if you want to use that super, you have to use that exotic. If you want to use another exotic instead, then the super will be "broken or bad." Though it's not the origin of my learning this lesson, Dawn Chorus has practically been glued to my warlock's head since it was released for this very reason. Daybreak is my favorite super in the game, but it's not very good without that exotic. The correct option is to buff aspects the super itself. Exotics should only ever add to or alter functionality of a super, never "fix" them.

Weakening and damage buff for super, then an exotic that acts like Raiden Flux but for Spectral Blades. Oh, and fix the hit registration too.

You want to make spectral blades useful and fix it with an exotic armor piece? Thats like driving a car knowing it needs fixing because of a weird sound and you just turn up the radio to suppress it

        • Take a gander what the pvp community would say about this and that’ll tell you why this super will forever be bad

          • Still wouldn’t be used. All of that is useless if you can’t hit your target. It has the worst hit registration out of basically anything somehow. You go through your target like 50% of the time.

            • I agree that if they made an exotic that made this the most busted super in the game, people would probably use it. True.

            • It needs better hit registration, it's all over the place.

            • Let it insta kill everything in the vicinity when activated. Then 1 shot everything when active and upon ending another insta kill wave. Please Bungie. Focus on scamming everyone first though you got enough $$$ for the festive period and don’t worry about core gameplay issues getting fixed. Push them back to mid June to apply a fix. Please Bungie.

            • Feels like overkill and doesn't really play into the identity of the super. Spectral Blades is supposed to make you feel like a stealthy assassin. Giving it some kind of effect that lets it do big burst damage to a few big targets like champs or minibosses makes more sense. I swear half the time people propose buffs to supers in this game it's just "give it all the good things a super can have plus insane uptime."
