I'll have to stop you and say BUT.. If you have played the raid since the patch you will have noticed there is much more communication between players instead of just "Venus" or "Mars"! People are learning better how the gates work, how to play all the roles and basically no more "I only shoot oracles"! People doing it now are much better prepared to confidently play through it with different people because they are simply experiencing more of it, and that is really what it is, an experience!

  • Agree 100%. First-tried Atheon for the first time ever with 1 death in the whole group that was a guy who'd never done the last fight before. I could actually run around and throw nova bombs everywhere because I no longer had an obligation to be on the portal team(I was always the guy who'd grab the sword of Crota so I was a natural with the relic). I honestly had more fun with the fight than I did the first time I ever beat it. I think if they had a tutorial for the shield or a reduced-rewards way to try the fight with fixed teleports that'd be good for people to learn, but the change actually made the fight a lot more entertaining for my group.

Once the 3rd cycle started I would say our communication was the same as always but we also probably talk more than others. Our go/time team always called out "first oracle" and "reloading" regardless of it being the same guys or three random teammates. That also might explain why we felt no additional difficult apart from dealing with the Time's Vengeance bug on the patched raid. We have an established chain of command in our (more than 6 man) raid group. They know the system works.

  • That's a valid point. But this is also video game, which also has some rpg elements. And like all rpg games some players gravitate toward certain classes. Players, like classes, have their strengths and weaknesses and with a proper strategy, each can be used to the full potential based on players playstyle. The "patch" plays against all of that. It instead says white mage your a tank now. Black mage your close range dps etc. Can your imagine any other rpg out there where players are randomly forced to fit a role they don't enjoy? This is what bungie has done. Sure no class is strictly defined in destiny, but people do like to play a certain way. If your a hunter you probably like keeping a safe distance, snipping the harpy s. Titans love running around punching stuff. Some people like running relic. Others hate it. Before if someone wanted to try any role out, it was easy to do. Now they are simply thrust into it. now sometimes ones they have no fun doing. Does it give more people experience? Sure it does. Is it more difficult? Not really. Is it more fun? Not at all. This is a game. Let us have fun and plau the roles we choose, don't randomly assign them to us. It's not like players didn't have the option to choose before. Bottom line it's people just prefer playing toward their class strengths. I feel like bungie tried to turn Atheon fight into a straight up fps. People didn't buy destiny for that.
