Retired Guardians: "Why we left Destiny and are hesitant to return."

TL:DR Having old activities (that were paid for) coming back would make people feel like they didn't waste their money, and it would add a layer of freshness. Don't force players into doing Crucible, it should be completely optional. There are many reasons as to why many of us left: lack of interest, boredom, new games, frustration, and mostly-feeling as if the things you buy only stay relevant until the next DLC. This post is coming from a decently unbiased source, I enjoyed Destiny, bought all the DLCs (expect RoI) and typically had a blast in the PvE spectrum (not really going to talk about PvP). Great friends, decent luck and generally it kept me entertained. But; as someone who left Destiny and checks up on it every once in a while (deciding if it's worth to spend even more money), I can say that there are many things that could coax older players to return. Part of that is having some of the old raids and challenges available; since its pretty crucial for a few reasons. 1. It's another way to level and customize your character. By having gear that drops at a nice level and looks great it adds reason to go back and relive the nostalgia. 2. When I buy and play through the end game events of DLC, having those events basically becoming useless makes players feel like they're only buying the expansion for the time that it's relevant. Simply put: there is little to no reason to do the old end game events other than "the experience" and makes players feel like they shouldn't have bought anything until the final expansion because anything prior became pointless. 3. Having some of the old content brought back as a continuous way to get great gear would lessen the "content drought" and could buy Bungie time to make new things. Everyone wants to play around with an upgraded Mythoclast and Necrochasm (maybe just me with the ladder). On top of that: We have PvP. Crucible. Now other than the constant struggle Bungie has to make everything balanced, for many players it's unenjoyable. "Stay away from it then" is the common answer, but the issue with that is being locked out of certain exotics. Thorn being a prime example. No one likes being forced into doing a mode of the game that should be completely optional. Especially for an exotic that (has been described to be this on multiple occasions) better for PvE currently. And as much as I would like to, I will not go into detail about exotic farming and three of coins because of it being a lesser issue. And I don't want to double the post length.
