Assassin's cowl is one of, or the best, universal hunter survival exotic. Which doesn't sound like it needs a buff, but duo to it becoming available as a spirit in exo class items for every class, with only the healing part missing. It now feels less special, and its universal aspect lacks a lot in higher difficulty content. there where it is harder to get a melee kill, you are often only going to see assassins cowl in combination with arc since it has combination blow to get high melee damage or strand since it has grapple melees. The other subclasses just don't have melees which reliable get kills in high difficulty stuff, and prismatic could just use the spirit of it, or just the aspect which makes you invis on killing a debuffed target. Kinda the same with void, you already have plenty of invis sources and no melee with good damage.
So here's my pitch for the buff xd
buffing all or some of the lesser damage melees would be a way but would destroy much of the subclasses's uniqueness.
since some melees are designed to not kill, but to heavily "annoy" xd the target.
But how do we combine that with the assassin fantasy of fatally striking while invisible ?
I got the idea from the stasis shuriken, to my knowledge shuriken were used to poison enemies instead of outright killing them.
mmh poison for melees, it would solve it all as far as I can tell.
Of course, it would be simular to necrotic grips on warlock, but it could still be distinctively different.
Addition to assassin's cowl's perk:
-melee hits apply poison
-poison kills make you invisible (on a 6.8 sec. cooldown) but do not spread the poison
necrotic grips would still stay special for its awesome add clear and synergy with weapons of sorrow, while still giving the players more of their beloved poison XD
it might even be a cool combo on void with the smoke bomb that recently got some damage over time added.
And it would then be more different from its spirit.
With that, all subclasses could make a more reasonable use of assassin's cowl, which means more people would likely buy the ornament :), including me btw xd
also, players might be a bit disappointed if it wouldn't synergize with the weapons of sorrow at all.
Letting kills with the poison from weapons of sorrow give invisibility would be an option.
Or instead of the hole poison thing, "melees do more damage while invisible" but that, I think, would be a boring and similar to assassin's spirit + synthoceps spirit.
