I just tried running the Avalon mission in the Weekly Exotic Mission Rotator, on the standard (base power level 1945) and after over an hour's playing solo, I found myself just giving up at Brakion (The last boss) out of frustration.
I felt that the rewards for the time invested in the activity simply wasn't worth it. For old Season of Defiance weapons I didn't think the mission should be this "difficult" to complete, especially solo.
This mission could have done with a QOL tuning pass before adding it to the rotator in its current state. The biggest pain point for me was having to restart from the first stage of each encounter on death. Brakion has three stages and dying on the final stage, to restart from stage one is too annoying to endure, especially for Season of Defiance weapons.
Also, I thought enemy density was supposed to scale to the size of the fireteam? I managed to rack up over a thousand(?) in my attempt to complete the mission and have nothing to show for it.
Having completed the mission solo in its original incarnation back in Season of Defiance, I'm genuinely shocked and disappointed by how difficult I found the mission.

Last month I had similar issue in Zero Hour. In the normal version I was capped at 1945, but the boss and I believe some majors were 2000. :D So it turns out the legendary/master/whatever_is_the_new_name difficulty was somehow easier, because you have higher level cap. I mean... I hope it's not "normal" to be -55 levels on the "normal" difficulty. :) Now add to that no solo operative mod, no seasonal mod for Dragon's Breath scorch and it was pure pain in the -blam!-.
