This game is about GETTING loot, not endlessly chasing it

Bring back crafting. This game is dying faster than before, removing crafting and every other change you made this season is the reason. Not to mention the record amount of bugs! Look at the steam player count for the proof, I seriously doubt consoles are much higher. I'm already burned out and I know I'm not the only one. The joy of this game comes from USING the weapons, not from hoping the next drop will be better. This isn't a gambling simulator. The gambling addicts will say, "once you have your 5 red borders, the game becomes a shard simulator." Most desired rolls usually drop within 5 drops anyways, 10 at most. At that point you're enhancing that roll then sharding every version of it that drops afterwards anyways! If your roll doesn't drop within 5 or 10 drops then that's way too much grind and NO ONE should be advocating for that, anyone who argues for that type of system is working against their own self-interest, or has an obvious gambling addiction! Grinding an activity to the point of resenting it is NOT healthy for any game, period. I still haven't got a EA/BnS bitter sweet or LW/CT scavengers yet, and I've played contest around 30-40 times and used up countless specific tonics. That's not something anyone should be arguing for. Bungie, undo it before it's too late. Once borderlands 4 comes out you're f*cked. There's no way Marathon will be ready in time, and after everything you've done to this game and the massive amount of bugs you won't fix (and the ones you introduce with every major update), no one's gonna buy it anyways! And that gacha clone won't keep you afloat either. No amount of free bright dust will make up for what you've done by removing crafting alone. Every decision you've made this episode has been about "increasing engagement" but it's actually having the exact opposite effect and the player count proves it. It's also no coincidence all these changes happened after the new director took over, he never should've been put in charge. This whole episode has been a whole other level of "new low" for Destiny, and that's before the bugs. The core design of this episode is a new low - Removing crafting, the pinnacle grind, Engram focusing, tonics, terrible modifiers, shamelessly recycled onslaught/prison etc.. and not announcing the removal of crafting until a week before the episode came out was shady af, even for you. I, and many others, felt like we were tricked into buying the season pass then robbed, which we basically were plain and simple. I buy seasons/episodes for the craftable weapons, that's it, certainly not for the recycled content! I've never been one of the crazy "the end is nigh" type players constantly saying this game is dead/dying, but everything about this episode has changed that. This game really is doomed if decisions like these keep getting made. Listen to your audience for once and undo it. As it is, I absolutely will not be buying frontiers and once BL4 comes out this game is done anyways. I'm gonna go play some Warframe now. At least those devs aren't toxic AF, and that's really saying something considering the amount of microtransactions in that game!

  • I actually enjoy the chase more than the reward. I have barely touched the last few seasons cause they throw so many things at me I have everything i wanted within the first month. This leaves me with no desire to play them further.

  • Crafting slowly destroyed all loot in the game. No one should have every god roll in the game no matter how much you play

Regardless of red borders or not, once a player gets what they want on both sides of that fence the game ends. There is no appeasing either side. Any and all activities are pointless once you get what you want, we are all at the behest of RNG. Those with bad luck get left behind while the players with good RNG stop playing and return when there's something new. As a player with everything in game I'm on only helping others do their grind. Imagine grinding out a god roll for other players, or helping a returning player do a campaign grind for meditations. I've done my grind x3 add in the countless amount of Guardians that I have helped grind out their grind. It's not only about the chase, it's about having fun playing a game with friends or family who are enjoying it for the first time or returning after a break. The games story ended with final shape many left due to that reason, some of us remain to see where it goes. Happy Holidays Guardian 🍻

    • The game is what Bungie management wants it to be, and that means con the players into playing the same junk forever chasing minimal loot against RNG that works to ensure you don’t get loot. That means fewer developers needed to maintain it, which is more profit for shareholders and fat bonuses to upper management. This is why we went from four seasons to three episodes. It’s why the episodes feel worse. It’s why they had no real plans for Destiny after TFS- they intended to just keep milking worse seasons until the money dried up or until Marathon took off. The game is no longer their priority, and the players are only here to fund other things with microtransactions.

    • I've been saying the same thing since they first announced the removal of crafting. To me, it's not the endless chase for a weapon that's fun, it's actually getting to use it in game. Chasing it forever and beating my head against Bungie's rng wall is just not fun, and it's why I was so happy when they added crafting to the game. Crafting still gives you worthwhile loot to chase (the patterns), but it guarantees that you'll actually get what you're farming for, and you can then use it to make and enjoy any build you can imagine. Crafting lets you actually enjoy using your builds and playing the game, instead of grinding forever just for the chance of being able to enjoy using your build once you can finally make it. Also, like you said, I play the seasonal content for the patterns they provide. I've spent a lot of time playing and grinding to get seasonal patterns, even if I didn't really care about the weapon, just because I'm a completionist, and once I have it, I can always use it later if a crafted weapon or some of its perks become good. I don't have to sacrifice my already very limited vault space to hold onto all the rolls of a weapon, I just have it in my proverbial back pocket, ready to craft whenever I want. This season, by comparison, I've barely played at all, because there's nothing that feels worth the effort. The activities aren't fun, the weapons they give aren't worth grinding for, and there's absolutely 0 guarantee that I'll even get anything worth the vault space, even if I grind all season. Pure rng is such a terrible system, and completely kills my motivation to play activities, or buy future content.

    • I think a lot of people are stuck on the chasing phase …that is all destiny is to them …also Bungie know this and actively promote the chase 🤷🏼‍♂️

No, COD is about getting loot literally dropped in your hands, looter shooters and mmos are about a journey for said loot , and loot meaning something This wouldn't be an issue if we had weapons worth chasing this season And if you think D2 is bad, look up the process to obtain a Kuva Lich weapon in warframe , lol, and getting loot is not the problem , it's grinding said loot 6-10 times to make the loot worth a damn

      • Don’t worry too much about the rolls, I had fun before crafting, I liked crafting, but I’ll still have fun without it. Just play the game, don’t try to control what can’t. I went vault diving this season and realized I had lots of good rolls just sitting there taking dust, accumulated over the years. I’d much rather they focus on adding engaging content and fix PvP, instead of focusing on keeping us in the hamster wheel solely for a roll.

      • Not sure where this whole gambling addiction thing started, but it makes absolutely no sense. So because i like to put in some work and redo the same activity multiple times, for that perfectly rolled weapon that just feels so much sweeter to get as a drop. I some how have a gambling addiction ? I don't see it.

Then going into the crucible and deleting people with it. Crafting ruined this game.

Bruh the entire point of destiny is the loot you get is completely random. Actually expecting to get what you want within ANY set amount of time/runs is a fools errand. Clearly you should play something else then. Oh wow...shocker. You never even played D1, you're a D2 only player. Let me fill you in, you're never guaranteed to get any loot you want

Oh sure, the reason destiny is losing players is crafting, it's not - a lack of innovation - the game being like 6 disjointed mini games - a terrible new player experience - being expensive and confusing to get into - a near hostile community - bungies lack of community interaction/management - several dozen half baked systems and left to die modes - "core" playlists left to stagnate - omg the bugs - micro transactions to the detriment of in game rewards - consistent cheating/ "accessiblity" device problems - bad connections - unbalanced economy But no it's definitely crafting
