Miniaturization of the components make them more expensive, harder to upgrade, and getting rid of heat more difficult. Also battery life can be a problem. You can game on them but you pay a premium for that portability.

They aren't bad, but you can fit more stuff in a desktop. Like bigger videocards, a soundcard, dedicated network card, and of course liquid cooling for overclocking the cpu. Alienware makes some nice gaming laptops, if you can get past the style. [spoiler](V) (;,,;) (V) wubwubwubwubwub![/spoiler]
