This Land Beyond: Prelude Part 1: Little Light

"Remind me again, why are we out here?" A young huntress stumbled over the rusted remains of an automobile after her guide. The old man leading the way seemed to not hear her as he continued onward, gliding through the ancient graveyard without a single misstep. She watched him with careful eyes, hoping to glean as much of their trade from him as she could, following his every move with one of her own until it was if she was dancing on the tombstones of the old world. Her eyes averted downward, watching her own movements, making sure she did not land on something that would give way or that she may slip on. 'Careful now...' she thought, twisting her foot to land between two pieces of jagged metal. With a small pirouette, the young hunter avoided injury and prepared to make the next move until she felt the stern arm of her mentor in her stomach. She let out an exasperated cough. "Hey! What was that-" she started, but the old hunter moved a hand over his helmet, a single finger extended in a universal warning. The young huntress, while still rather distraught, decided to heed the old man's warning. Her ears pricked as she heard incoherent chatter carried on the wind. He then took the same finger and pointed to the edge of the small hill just a few steps away. The old hunter leapt from atop the vehicle, careful not to make a single sound as he slinked to the ground link a tiger on the prowl. She followed suit, making her way to the edge of the hill and peering over the side. 'Fallen,' she thought as she looked down at the small squad of Eliksni scavenging through some rubble below them. She drew her pistol with a deft hand before looking back to the old man, waiting for his call. After what felt like an eternity, he spoke with a careful whisper, "Time to prove yourself. 500 glimmer says you can't take them all down on your own." 'Finally, some action!' With an almost childish glee, the young huntress made her way around the hill and into some nearby brush. As she swam through the thicket around the group of enemy scouts, she flashed a predatory grin. She kept moving around them like a shark, waiting for the right moment to make the kill. Suddenly, she bumped into something deep in the tall bushes; it was another scavenger! Using it's four arms, the Vandal tore the pistol from her hands and threw her on her back. As the creature reached for its weapon, the huntress pulled out her knife and flung it. The blade danced through the air a moment before splitting the scout's head in two. The creature let out an awful shriek as its heavy, limp body fell atop her, pinning her to the ground. The others jumped and turned towards her. drew their weapons and leveled them straight at her. Two of them were wielding Wire Rifles and the third was using a Captain's shotgun, not your standard fare for scavengers this far outside the Cosmodrome. As the creatures' rifles charged up, she closed her eyes and waited for the inevitable.
Sorry for making this one so short. Trying to get used to the size of the text box I am allowed to fill. Ill post a link to part 2 when I finish it.
