This idea spurred when bungie didn’t release new aspects for strand this season, and I thought about what I’d like to see. Admittedly I’m a warlock main so my understanding of what threadrunners and berserkers might want or need is limited and that probably reflects in my concepts; so I would love to hear feedback on what other players more familiar with them think! Anyhow here’s what I got:
Warlock
- Torn Cloth: 2 fragments, defeating targets with threadlings or rapidly defeating unraveled targets (guardians and bosses are valued higher) has an escalating chance to generate a tear in the weave. Standing near a tear causes Strand and Kinetic weapons to apply sever when damaging targets. Casting your rift near a tear causes the tear to consume it, exacerbating the tear; exacerbated tears, have a larger radius than tears and grant the benefits of a tear to your allies weapons as well. Any severed target in grapple distance to the exacerbated tear, has random (but common) chance to be grappled by the tear and be drawn into it, the tear can grapple 3 enemies at a time or one guardian, boss or champion leveled opponent at a time (large bosses just take flat damage from the grapple) dealing massive damage to the enemy. Enemies defeated by the tear refund a small amount of rift energy, casting a rift near an exacerbated tear causes its timer to reset.
Titan
- Dark age rope: 2 fragments, when you grapple an opponent while on the ground instead of flying towards them you can reel them closer to you, as well as allowing you to pulling them in various directions; targets that are grappled in this way becomes severed until the grapple ends. Activating your melee while you have grappled an opponent in this way will allow for regular grapple function to resume. Defeating grappled enemies refunds some of your grenade and melee enemies. Requires melee energy to maintain a grapple on any opponent stronger than a minor. This ability cannot be used on bosses and instead it just applies sever and suspend to them.
Hunter
- Antique bird cage: 2 fragment slots, shooting an ally while a threadling is active causes the threadling to rush at them; when the threadling reaches your ally it lithes at them, granting them woven mail and emitting a suspending burst around them (if your target is a broodweaver this ability grants them 2 perched threadlings on top of of base effect). Rapidly defeating severed targets has a chance to spawn a threadling; applying woven mail to an ally increases this chance.
Notes: To my fellow broodweavers before you get out the pitchforks about my Threadrunner concept, I honestly drew a blank on what to give them as what I’ve seen and read conceptually they are fairly balanced (definitely needs some buffs though). so, I thought what can a subclass that has fairly high battlefield mobility have added to help them excel? because threadrunner is proficient in movement I thought that ability to get around would help them operate in a support sense because they can more aptly get to teammates and maintain combat momentum.
