Satoru Iwata (president): ... It may come as a shock to some of you that most gamers today can not finish the original Super Mario Brothers game on the Famicom. We have conducted this test over the past few years to see how difficult we should make our games and have found that the number of people unable to finish the first level is steadily increasing.
This year, around 90 percent of the test participants were unable to complete the first level of Super Mario Brothers. We did not assist them in any way except by providing the exact same instruction manual we used back then. Many of them did not read it and the few that did stopped after the first page which did not cover any of the game mechanics.
This is pathetic if it's true.

Those aren't gamers.

rofl only some downs syndrome assburgers kid would fail that. then again, most gamers are exactly that.

The sad thing is... I believe him. Gamers today have the patience level of a 5 year-old on Christmas morning. Not to mention those with intelligence tend to throw away anything that isn't CoD or "like CoD." I hate having to use the "CoD excuse," but its a big reason why gamers today have such low interest levels. They buy a Xbox 360 or PS3 and all they play is Call of Duty and the occasional 1st party exclusive (usually Halo or Uncharted). Gamers need to play something besides shooters.

Just read through the comments. Apparently the article is satire, thank God.

90% of casual gamers*

Editado por tntbabin: 7/8/2013 6:05:17 PMNow, is it at all possible, that the people that participated in this test had trouble staring at the game's ancient graphics or playing an extremely outdated game for extended periods of time? EDIT: Yeah, just read the entire article and ^this doesn't seem to be the case lol. I'm a little depressed now. This means Zelda is gonna hold my hand even MORE next time cause the world is full of dumb asses, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Editado por ABotelho: 7/8/2013 4:41:46 PMThat's because games are getting easier, which causes people to lower their standards for difficulty. See what happens when money is the #1 objective? But honestly, how are they judging what makes these "gamers". I'm willing to bet every single person on Bungie.net can beat the first level.

-
... that is sad.

Not getting past the first level is bizzarre, but to be entirely fair, Super Mario Bros. was one of the hardest games I'd ever played on the NES and even as I got older I still had quite a bit of difficulty with some of the levels. And that doesn't say anything about gamers, all it says anything about is the people that Nintendo had playing the game.

Lol wtf what retards
-
how?!?! That level was so unbelievably easy when I was 4..
-
I could pass that with my eyes closed.
-
....Mother of God....
Around 70 percent died to the first Goomba.
They were not "gamers".

I don't read the instructions.. I like to learn from trial and error. Which is far more rewarding.
-
90 percent of the test participants
This does not mean 90% of gamers.

I chuckled a bit.
