Why participate in:Social interaction, cooperation and competition.

There are many gamers out there that play single player games that never interact with other gamers. Bungie is not forcing people to play cooperatively, but they've laid down a great game plan for seamlessly allowing it. If I see a guardian in need I would want to help him instead of sitting on the sideline just watching. The public events are optional, you don't even have to do it, but the satisfaction that comes from saving another guardian is priceless. After completing a competitive multiplayer match and watching your team win is a REAL victory. Instant satisfaction. When you converse with people in your fire-team it sounds like they're really wearing a helmet. You really feel immersed in the game when voices echo in the caves. It's hard to describe the feeling that you get from completing challenges like the "strike" with a group of Guardians. I believe it's this "feeling" that makes Destiny special. It gives a true sense of camaraderie, you all fought hard together, and shared the feeling, sense of accomplishment together. You can't find that in games like Skyrim, Deus Ex, Far Cry....To summarize: all I'm saying is give it a shot, you may be pleasantly surprised.
