Hello,
I just wanted to ask why names including stuff like "M0therf-cker" and others are allowed to play on the servers ?
Normally I don't care about people using crappy names, but when I see even pedophile names, drug abuse-glorification... then it's something else. Sadly I didn't take a screenshot of those names but shouldn't you at least filter somewhat of those stuff ?

They are words. Words only carry the weight and meaning you give them. If your such a fan of censorship you should probably move to a country like Saudi Arabia. You won't, because you like free speech as long as it's used to reinforce your point or agree with you. The real problem is, where do you draw the line? If your kids are too young to deal with strong language then don't allow them in such a public forum. The sad fact is when your not around it's probably your eight year old claiming to have -blam!-ed my mom, via screaming in my goddamn ear! If you want them too be strong, teach them to persevere, not complain, we got enough of that already. And truly, if you get offended by a series of characters strung together in a certain fashion you should probably go live as a hermit. Or grow up and quit being a whiny pussy.

I played vog with a guy with the gt MyKneeGrow was actually a cool gt

Because freedom of speech. Deal with it. Says on the games case "online interactions not rated". You don't want your kids around it, buy them single player offline games. On a side note, the less sheltered a kid is, the better off they will be going into the real world. You box a kid up and tell him not to leave, what's the first thing to cross his mind the second you leave? "How can I get out of here". You tell a kid drugs are bad, but don't explain why, later on his friends will tell him that you're full of shit(when it comes to weed, they're mostly right. Sorry, but it's true...) I'm not telling you how to raise your kid, that's none of my business. I'm just telling you from my experience, you tell a kid how things work, and he'll be less likely to find out himself.
-
All you can do is do what I do and report them. I'm sure eventually they will be spotted and dealt with.
-
ILLEGAL Ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Good laugh, even If it was from October. Still hilarious you think that's illegal.
-
Exactly...
-
Bungie doesn't allow or not allow the usernames, this is a Microsoft or Sony thing. They have things in place to try and stop bad names, but the system isn't perfect and names will get through even if they're bad.

Dear god this is from Oct 16
-
Don't play games then or man up.

Seriously? "Online interactions not rated by ESRB" do you understand that statement written on your damn box? I'll let you bathe in your ignorance.

They should allow us to name our Guardians. Some of those guys with bad gamer tags would like to change their name, but can't. Looking at you Playstation... Support a feature to name our Guardians here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/100182754/0/0

It's a PSN/XBL issue, unfortunately. If you find them offensive, you'll need to report them GT/ID.

''Illegals Names'' <------ The door is this way.

Your morals are not and should not be laws. Your mere presence offends me. Grow up and/or don't let your kids play on the internet.
There is porn there.
-
Grow up dude. Why do you care?
-
"Illegal names" Hahahahahahahaaha
-
I've not seen a guardian called jimmy saville or Gary glitter yet...
-
Report them, leave any matchmaking that puts you with them, and report them. There will always be people with limited imaginations and a lack of respect for others. Sadly the internet does not have an intelligence or respect test, then we could leave those people who's family trees fail to branch out of our games. You will get those who question your concern with ignorant comments about morals or age, but they are probably the same as mentioned above.

While I don't agree with this, Microsoft or Sony actually has the right to censor names, Bungie could too but it's unlikely since they cannot control user names. If you're asking how these companies can censor names it is because they are private, meaning not government run. Freedom of speech is only limited to public places, but with that being said, you can't be arrested (unless you yell I'm going to bomb this place at an airport- which I highly recommend you try- you know- YOLO) because police is government oriented. An example of something along these lines is the homosexual Boy Scout leader who was banned and had all his accomplishments such as his Eagle Scout title stripped from him- just for being homosexual. How could they do this? Well, in this specific case, the Supreme Court ruled that it's a private organization who can orchestrate their own rules within their group as long as they align with federal law. So this is possible but regardless of where you or your child goes (unless you/or your kids plan to stay at home for life with no outside connections) there will always be profanity and vulgar words/action in the world around you. It's just day and age we live in now. You and/or your kids will just have to get use to it, I'm sorry. Wish i could give you a better answer but honesty before lies- rule one to parenting- haha not.

What constitutes an "illegal" name?
-
Bungie cant police console gamer tags. That's what the report function is for. Use it if you have a problem. Nuff said.
