I've yet to find a proper citation for the unknown knight that rescued Joyeuse, but I really hope that it's an actual part of the sword's lore. With this latest trend of letting the players create the main characters, Joyeuse being "anyone's sword" is a fair point. If the speculation that there will be factions is correct (Dead Orbit, New Monarchy, Osisris, Seven Seraphs, etc.) this is a possibility which I'm excited about.
