Seeing how today's Automobile Industry is trying to gear up for tomorrow's tomorrow, I have been wondering what you all think as far as what kinds of cars you are wanting, excited for in the not so distant future.
Being born and raised in the muscle car era, I'm always going to have a deep seated desire for loud, fast, and angry gas powered vehicles. I'm not totally opposed to hybrids or electrics, but in my mind they (electrics mainly) are still not sufficient in service for any distance commuting. That and the fact that hybrid and electric's batteries are as bad if not worse for the environment than their gas powered counterparts. Creating the electricity is still not entirely clean in many areas, disposal of spent batteries is extraordinarily toxic, and the fact that the batteries for the electrics can be prone to ignition.
But do any of you favor a specific mode for your transportation. I'm not looking at brands or models, but just the propulsion hardware.
For those of you who live in cities and have no real interest or plans of owning a vehicle, I added the public transportation option so you don't feel left out.

I'm just commenting to say holy cow, I'm stunned to see a post in this group from the year 2020. I come by Bnet once in a while, but I had assumed this group was completely lifeless. Maybe I should post something about my Camaro. The last time I was here all I had was a Jetta 1.8T. A lot has changed since then.

I find it rather odd that the hybrids are not getting any votes. La Ferrari, Porsche 918, McLaren P1, all of Formula 1,... they're all hybrids.
-
I drive a Honda Civic with a high efficiency gas engine (40 mpg on the freeway). But I also drive a bus, so public transportation.

Well, petrol is a finite resource, and it’s shit for the environment. With more widespread adoption of alternative energy, electric vehicles seem more viable, but mining lithium is shit for the environment. Refining hydrogen is shit for the environment, and transporting it is a fat pain in the ass. Public transit is just lame. Horses are trash animals. Bicycles are for cyclists (you know the kind of people that are cyclists). Skateboards are for kids who listen to Nirvana but don’t know who Kurt Cobain is. Scooters are for kids whose parties no one shows up to. Electric scooters are for people who think they’re too good to walk. But rollerblades? Rollerblades are the future.

Gas until electric gets better. I want an electric car thats a sports car and not a luxury car.
-
I have been looking at what Nikola is doing with the hydrogen as the power source for the generator to charge the batteries for the semi. I would say more, but I am exhausted & can't make my mind function.

Walk or bike or horse.
-
Nah man, it’s called Back to the Future.
-
Hydrogen Fuel Cell I want some Fallout cars in the mix dammit, they look so slick!
-
You know how in the Mombasa levels in Halo 2, the lines on the roads have lights in them? That's what I want to see in the future.
-
I’ll burn gas till the day I die
-
I can’t confirm this, but supposedly one idea was make the roads electric, so they charged your car as you drove. Sounded neat.

At the moment, Petrol. It’s cleaner than diesel, and I prefer the performance of Petrol cars. I like the idea of Electric, but I don’t know enough about the cons of going full electric, so I’m not ready to make the switch, yet. I also live in the middle of nowhere, so mileage is an issue. There’s a also a lack of infrastructure to consider ( I’ve yet to come across any Electric car re-charging stations on any of my travels ). I also live in a part of the country where flooding is an issue ( especially in winter ). I’m scared to death of the prospect of owning an electric car, and then having it get flooded.

I think electrics will be the way of the near future, but that hydrogen fuel cell will eventually succeed them.
-
Electric. Gib Tesla.
-
The one that gets me from point A to point B cheapest and quickest.
-
I know where a few uncapped wells are and will make drip gas if I have to. Although I could also go the Natural gas route since that is why I know where they are. Something people don't think about with electric cars is the amount of pollution created making many of the parts that are supposed to be eco friendly. The battery is the worse offender. My sports car will make less pollution in it's lifetime then an electric car that makes it to the same age due to said batteries. Also, it's like 6k to replace the battery pack when they fail.

Gas, preferably with a stick. I can probably live with flappy -blam!-ing paddles but there's something about the analog feel of clutch and stick. Hydrogen would probably be my second choice, just because science. Seems hydrogen could be used in a performance car. Hypothetically. Like the energy is there. The downside... replacing fuel cells is expensive. A hydrogen cell would probably be next level. Then would be hybrid. The P1 is a hybrid, right.... why not. I'd opt for public transport over electric. Right to repair shenanigans. As a society we already had that argument once. Tesla can take the self driving sensors, their software, and -blam!- right off.
-
I want that mutha-blam!-in cybertruck

Untill we have car plugs at most every station, I'm not risking an electric
