Will Bungie Ever Incorporate Trading and/or Gambling Into Destiny, and would you want them to?

No - It Has No Benefit

We've probably have all seen that promotional gameplay trailer that Bungie released before the launch of the original Destiny game in which a three player fire-team fights through waves of enemies in Old-Russia to show off many components of the upcoming blockbuster game. Now if you were to re-watch that trailer again you may notice some, somewhat disappointing little bits of information though out the video, but we're mainly going to focus on one of those things. If you hadn't notice on the first run through, one of the players comments on what one of his fellow guardians was wearing, saying that she had possibly traded or gambled for it.
Some people say that because trading can be classified as any sort of exchange of goods that it could easy mean that she simply purchased those items with glimmer. However, the fact that he said traded instead of simply saying purchased tells me a different story. Now, there's no refuting the fact that he clearly mentioned gambling. Now as to what, is a different discussion for a different time, but this whole idea of trading and gambling could lead to a completely different way of buying, selling and simple acquiring weapons and armor. This sort of system could even lead to more advanced and complex economic environment.
Now here's a peace of "evidence" that really makes me think that these ideas of gambling and trading were originally in the game but were removed before the actual release of it. We're going to begin with the sparrows. Did these flying motorcycles ever serve more of a purpose than simply transporting you from one place to another? Xûr, Agent of the Nine, commonly offers enhanced engines you can equip to your sparrow to allow for, and only for, faster transportation, so that you can get to from one place to another just a little bit faster than your fire team, only to have to wait for them once you get there anyways. Why would you have so many different sparrows with different stat counts that include speed, durability, and upgrades that allow you better handling and acceleration for your sparrow? Maybe racing?
If there were races that were taken out of the game, don't you think that gambling could have been a part of these races? This would give the sparrow much more of a important rule, and then justify why you would spend so many strange coins just to improve your transportation device. This being said, wouldn't this idea of gambling and trading also add to the whole community aspect that bungie is desperately striving for, which I wouldn't mind either if they figured out a way to make it really work but thats another conversation for another time.
This aspect to the game coming out of the gate would have been amazing. It would provide players with the clay necessary to mold it into the game's own little economy. Also, this would contribute to the idea of "Rare and Exotic" weapons, armors, vehicles, etc. Turning the gage of difficulty to a "much harder" setting on levels providing these items and adding a field of trading and gambling would decrees the amount of "Rare" weapons becoming much less "Rare" once everyone has one, simply by doing the same thing thousands of others are doing. This would change the game completely, making powerful players truly powerful compared to others and causing a whole new world of opportunity to spawn right in front of you!
But say bungie was to read this and was like, "Well shoot, we totally should have done that." They then go out and do that. What would happen? Well, one of two things could happen. The first is that the whole world could go to heck and people would burn their copies because they feel that after spending hours of looting and questing their most prize possession could have been won through a bet race. The second is that people would realize like me that this game is still growing, and more and more weapons are coming. Some weapons that would laugh in the faces of Thorn, and Gjallarhorn. Then they'd have to go out and spend hours getting something that everyone else is going to get the same way anyways and make this rare treasure a simple drop in the bucket with all the thousands of others like it out there. But if you were to up that anti on the difficulty of levels providing such rich rewards and made them for much higher level players, then provide a means for the transaction of goods between players, lower level players have the chance to acquire these weapons by paying for them accordingly. Resulting in a much lower count of rare weapons in the general public.
This may have some wholes in the foundation, but they can easily be filled. I hope this makes sense, and if there's any questions please ask. If this sort of thing becomes part of the general public's hopes for the future maybe this will catch the attention of someone important. Also, please list some ideas that you may have yourself, any and all ideas are excepted. And let me know what you think of this idea. Do you think it will work? And please bounce ideas off each other, let's build this idea up and better it. Maybe this might go somewhere for the future.
