I wanted to make this video and post to bring awareness to an annoying issue that me and a few other members of the Destiny 2 community have been experiencing for the past few months.
Since the launch of The Witch Queen, I have noticed that every bush, small tree, or blade of grass that casts a shadow in the game has had a very weird visual bug. The shadow of the item seems to flicker and freakout. It is like the animation of the shadow slowly moving around with the wind has had its speed cranked up to 100x faster.
I made a small video and Reddit post about this a few weeks after The Witch Queen launched, and a few other people responded saying they had the same issue, and the thing we had in common with our PC builds was that we all had AMD GPUs. I currently play Destiny 2 on an AMD RX 6900 XT. This could be some kind of issue with Destiny 2 and AMD GPU support, as I know Destiny 2 might have better optimization for Nvidia GPUs. However, since I made that post I have seen nothing else covering this issue, and no word from Bungie on if they even know this exists.
My goal with this video and post is to hopefully get somebody who works at Bungie to see this annoying bug and report it. It would be nice to get some kind of acknowledgement that Bungie has at least seen this issue and made a note about it.
This issue has been plaguing the Destiny experience for me for about 4 months now, and I thought I would shed some light on it before Lightfall comes out. I would hate to continue to have this issue when that expansion drops next year.
