The rise of input manipulation devices (IMDs) in Destiny’s PvP community is an issue we can no longer ignore. These tools exploit aim assist and input behaviors, providing users with unfair advantages, yet some people casually dismiss them as “soft cheats.” This term minimizes the harm caused and creates a dangerous precedent by normalizing cheating in a game that thrives on competitive integrity.
Let’s be clear: cheating is cheating, regardless of whether it’s a wallhack, an aimbot, or an input manipulation device. Anything that enhances gameplay beyond a player’s natural skill level is a violation of fair play. The more we label these devices as “less bad,” the more we encourage players to adopt them, eroding trust and sportsmanship in Destiny’s PvP.
Bungie needs to act decisively, banning IMDs outright. Other games have implemented strict measures against these devices, and Destiny must follow suit to protect the community. It’s also on streamers and community leaders to stop calling IMDs “soft cheats,” as this language downplays the seriousness of their impact and sends the wrong message to their audiences.
The community must take a stand. Report cheating, avoid downplaying the issue, and demand stronger anti-cheat measures. There’s no gray area—cheating in any form undermines the game we all love. Let’s ensure Destiny’s PvP remains a true test of skill, not manipulation.
EDIT: If you mention the names of the cheats or how they work, you get instantly banned from the forum.
EDIT: To ban these players, you literally just need to go to youtube and watch their demo videos. The names and contacts are there in front of you!

I wouild pay subscription to destiny if it would guarentee my matches would have no lag and no controller cheats.
-
It’s ridiculous. I got a warning for mentioning the names of devices in one of my posts and the post was deleted. The game is unplayable. PvP is literally the most disgusting, horrible sht experience I’ve ever had in any game ever. Whatever happens to B, they had it coming. Big time.
-
I've never heard of this. Cheating is cheating, and I'm not calling it anything else but scum of the earth.

Edited by Tall: 1/13/2025 6:00:32 PMLiterally anyone can go on youtube right now and type in “destiny 2 (insert device)” and you’ll find endless videos of people using and offering their discords to get their “configs” typically for a price. You can scroll through the comments sections of these videos to see a fraction of the users. Many have been doing it for years and preach that it’s not ban-able. Sadly, it seems they’re right because Bungie has refused to address this problem at all. I’m not aware of a single person ever being banned for using an “accessibility device”.
-
The game is dead already
-
I’m beyond tired of it. So obvious who is using these soft cheats. Yet Bungie doesn’t do anything. Literally hundreds of thousands of these devices sold. More people than you think are using them
-
I completely agree with you. There's just one problem: Bungie has made it clear multiple times that they just don't care.
-
100% Its even worse than blatant cheaters, I actually find it somewhat amusing when i see a guardian flying around with a sidearm shooting at a million rpm at least the guy is not hiding it and they know they’ll get banned But those pesky cheaters with hardware and software cheats who try to hide it are the ones who get on my nerves they’re the worst
-
I don’t see a difference anymore as far as I’m concerned every player that soft cheats is the same as people that hard cheats there’s literally no difference
-
Yep cheating is cheating and just so sad and pathetic to do ….especially in destiny pvp . PvP is dying rapidly so who knows how long it’s got to go . Bungie got rid of thier anti cheat team so not sure what they would do . If you need to cheat in a video game then that says volumes about the individual.

I report, I see him next game, I report, I see him next week, I report, i see him next day

Player count is already abysmally low. Bungie thinks they can't afford to ban cheats, otherwise they'd lose too many players and matching times would become prohibitively slow. What Bungie doesn't realize is that there is a massive untapped pool of potential PVP players, orders of magnitude higher than the current PVP pool, who would play, and continue playing after finishing all their seasonal/episodic PVE crap, if they were fairly matched against players of similar skill. You know, people who would play if it was FUN, but don't currently find it fun getting curb stomped by cheaters or even honest players of superior skill.
-
I wish bungie actually cared about cheaters in this game but they to scared to actually ban people because of how low the population is
-
I've made tons of posts about this exact topic man . People try to say " it's not bad as you think " but in reality it's probably much much worse than any of us could guess . The device rhyming with Bronus -blam!- extremely popular and sells tons of their product . To think that it's not plaguing D2 is just ignorant. Fingers crossed that they'll take the approach other developers have and make it where you can't even start the game with such a device plugged in.
-
Oh it's definitely cheating. Honestly the funniest part is like 90% of people that use those devices are still complete garbage. However it literally is soft cheating. That's not downplaying it. It's just the correct term. Soft sheating is still cheating. 100%. The soft part doesn't mean "acceptable" or "excusable" in any capacity. It's just used to distinguish between things like scripters/input modifiers and things like walls/actual aimbots.
-
You know that those people who defended it were the ones using it.

Edited by CORPERATE COMMANDER: 1/13/2025 12:35:46 PMStrict sbmm in all aspects of pvp would fix this ,that way adapter users are put in lobbies against each other most of the time ,whilst the major majority of legit players will be put in lobbies against other legit players . Bungie has always had there own janky versions of mm that never work because they are too busy listening to the top% whine about having to try hard in pvp which generally speaking you should have to if you earn the spot to be in the top% also bungie let them chat rubbish about having to wait an extra min for mm to find a game was bad lol. It's about time bungie got rid of the stone age mm and did the same as more up to date games have done and that's sbmm I only say this because I know full well bungie will never ban adapter users since alot of the top% of pvp mains use them

You sure these people aren't just better than you?

For the console folks that call for anticheat....i don't think you can have an anti cheat because you cant run 3rd party software in the background. The anticheat bungie put in is for PC only. The most people can do is run 3rd party devices for MnK, net limit, or a modded console or controller. I haven't heard of modded consoles in a long time, but they were big back in the halo days.
-
It is soft cheats because it can’t turn a burger to a god. You can still beat someone on a device.

Edited by NotCreative123: 1/13/2025 7:46:55 PM1) Prioritizing Cheats Cheating is cheating, but it makes sense to target the most egregious cheats first. For example, I can't necessarily tell when someone is using a 3rd party device, but I can IMMEDIATELY tell if someone is flying around the map with infinite heavy ammo. Even though both are cheats, one has a more significant impact on the game outcome. Bungie should fix one before fixing the other. 2) Difficulty to Detect I don't know how these kinds of cheats are being banned in other games, but I was under the impression that 3rd party hardware is difficult to detect. We cannot hold Bungie to a different standard than we hold the rest of the gaming industry. 3) Misinformation Regarding 3rd Party Devices Lots of players attribute things to 3rd party hardware when it is likely not (or at least, not likely to be) the culprit. Not many players seem to understand how they function, so there is a lot of paranoia and false reports. I wish players would educate themselves on how these devices work, so they can better protect themselves and the game. STOP BLAMING EVERY LOSS ON CHEATING 4) Where is the line? Lots of things give a player an advantage. A better monitor, a better PC, a better controller will all help the player A LOT in PVP. Why are these things allowed but 3rd party hardware is not? (I am simply playing Devil's Advocate - imo, the answer is that the only distinction is that Bungie said it is cheating) 5) Down With Cheaters I added this for clarity, because the above statements make it sound like I countenance cheating, and I do not. Cheaters should be banned no matter what, because the game would be better with no Cheaters. Period. I don't even understand why cheating companies are allowed to exist as they are. It seems like they should be illegal
-
Bungie needs to ban everything that can even be considered cheating. I'm for overdoing it at this point. If you didn't cheat, appeal the ban and get reinstated. Plain and simple.
-
Edited by Dredgen Truth: 1/15/2025 2:41:09 AMThe reason it is referred to as soft cheating is not to distinguish it as being more acceptable than other cheats in some nonsense way, but to instead identify it from more potent cheats that are more easily noticeable. Beyond that, while I do agree on the idea that fair play is incredibly important, there is an issue. That line does need to be drawn somewhere. Is having a better pc cheating? Is having a better mouse cheating? A better gamer chair, for christ's sake. All of those things can have measurable effects on a players performance, but most people would not call that cheating. Now, let me be clear, I'm not arguing that IMD's are not cheating. They absolutely are, but when we start having this discussion we also have to start having certain other discussions on where we draw that line. Are crouch macros cheating? Bungie clearly seems to think so, given that they implemented a cap on how many times you can crouch in a small period of time. At that point, is anything that requires (or otherwise uses) a macro cheating? Shatterskating, snapskating, projectile flying with a grapple? It's a much more nuanced discussion than I think a lot of people give it credit for. Nobody except for the cheaters are gonna disagree that cheating is bad, but there are finer details that need to be hammered out.

Go to any boosting service website and you will find that the cheapest one is Flawless Trials 😂😂😂 SE raid completion costs you 20ish dollars while flawless trials are only 12 dollars

Edited by staticmowry: 1/13/2025 4:12:20 PMMy favorite is the constant spamming fast crouch-stand shot/strafe left and right perfect head shots in .0001 seconds peaking around a corner 🤣. You can tell the difference in the frequency of it for who's using just button/macros and someone with IMD

Funfact: Even podcast like DCP have members that use Chronos. It's not the girl just in case anyone is wondering. No I will not call out the one who uses it. If you follow him specifically he does actually mention it at one point. He said it's not a big deal since he does not play PVP very much lol
