He looks troubled. He's trying be something he thinks he cannot be, yet he tries to prove himself wrong by showing his loyalty to the dark side, even if it takes killing family. He's sort of in denial.

13 commentairesHe looks like a relatively normal human being. Which is amazing for his character. We like to think of things that are evil as different from us. That's why Darth Vader had a mask, Sidious had a destroyed face from force lightning, Maul was a red and black alien with horns. But Kylo Ren becomes much more when he removes his mask. His not an evil creature or a monster. He's a person. A normal looking person, and I think that symbolism is fantastic.

It's funny; I suspected the mask would make him near unintelligible, like Bane in TDKR previews. But I could understand him perfectly clearly, and the whole muffled thing gave his voice a very menacing softness. Like here was this cloaked, masked -blam!-, yet he had a slightly fuzzy, kinda gentle voice. It seemed to be a pretty cool juxtaposition.
