Together (Fan story)

Hey this is a small story I wrote because I like myth and legends and I hope you will enjoy it. If this is not the right place to post it to share it, I am sorry! So here it is: Together by CrimsonF A distant call from the stars. A guardian is trapped. His ghost, scream for anyone who would listen. From the tower a small team is dispatched. A warlock. A titan. No backup. The ghost signal is feeble. The guardian is either in a lot of trouble, or hidden somewhere. The hunter has been captured by fallen. In the Venus jungles, the hunter is being kept inside a cave. There are no other details. The team follows a dimming signal and see it disappear as they land near it. 600 odd meters to the west. They are far from any old remnants of the golden age. Around them the jungle stretched for kilometres. Under the shade of the tall trees, sunlight is almost non-existent. A constant twilight shines through the leaves. The titan is happy for the shade. Heat slows him down. -"Which way Eirwen?" She points to the west, the last wave of the signal, and begins walking. She is nervous. There is something here that is hidden. Something watching them. She doesn't mention it to F#872, but her ghost senses her discomfort. She begins pushing plants aside and walking. Slowly, carefully looking around, sending her ghost ahead. F#872 looks at their ship for one last time before following after her. He hopes there is not too much mud on the way. They walk in silence, trying to disturb the flora as little as possible. They want to get in and out without much notice. F asks Eirwen where the Fallen could be hiding. He saw no indication of their activity, nor was there anything for the scavengers to take. He wondered if the house of Winter had finally cracked under the constant battle for leadership and sent its member into hiding. The warlock did not answer. There was a small lizard on their path. Nothing to be concerned about but for some reason the sight sent a chill through her spine. The jungle turned silent. Even F had nothing to say, no quip, no joke. They stood and listened. Ghosts moving their parts, their small clicks building the tension. And then they heard it. Faint, far away, but strong. A Fallen captain calling for action. They turned towards the sound. It was North, and far. They stood waiting for a response for the call. It had not come from their ship. Eirwen wondered if their presence was still secret. He raised a hand before F could say anything. Together they waited. The second shout came from the South. Still far, yet they knew it was closer. A whisper left her lips. Thin, cold, and scared. -"Run" F didn't wait. He pushed into the front and moved jungle aside as he created a path. He was a titan. He built and moved walls as he pleased. Natural or artificial. There was no different in his eyes. He vision focused on the path ahead as he pushed. His heart racing and heat filling him. Behind Eirwen tried to follow as best as she could. She wished they had brought their sparrows, or landed closer. She cursed and sent her ghost up to scan the environment. There was nothing too see, the vegetation hid everything. From behind a wave of shouts and yells rose and fell over them. They were surrounded. The Fallen running at their sides. The cacophony was maddening as they tried their best to dodge shots that appeared out of nowhere. Hitting all around them. Blasting trees and dirt. Cayde-6 owed them big time if they got out. Soon they saw it. A cave. An opening leading into darkness. F reached it first and stood at the entrance waiting for Eirwent to cross the threshold. Passing by she yelled: -"Now!" F pulled from within him, Eirwen from around her. A wall of void sealed the cave and behind it thunder fell. The light and flash blinded them for a second. Their ears rang. -"That was a little close for my liking" -"Well, it was either there or over us. Be happy I didn't hit the wall and fried us both." They looked from behind the wall. They could see the scorch marks of the lighting, but no Fallen laid there. Shots had stopped. The jungle was silent once again. Eirwen did not like it. Not one bit. F wondered what was happening. He stepped through the wall, and shouts came after. He quickly dodge inside to be hit by Eirwen. No shots followed. A rumble came from deep within the cave. Eirwen's ghost was already ahead. Scanning, making a map, and offering light. They looked once more at the wall and started walking further into the cave. Neither ghost had any record of the place. They tried asking the cryptarchs at the tower but the signal was not going through. The hunter must be near. They walked in darkness and silence before Eirwen asked if F had seen the statues. -"Statues?" -"Outside the cave. There were Fallen statues. This makes no sense. They don't worship themselves and it is rare that they settle anywhere for too long. The loot, they go. If there is resistance, they will stay for longer. But if there is nothing around, they will go. And there is nothing here. Not for many, many kilometres. Why are they here? And why are there statues?" F shrugged. -"I don't know, the ghost don't know, but did you see the colours of the houses?" -"Winter?" -"Close." -"Wolves?" -"Almost." -"Just say it." -"I don't know. I saw the colours of the Wolves, the Winter colours, the house of Kings was represented and many, many more. I did not recognized all of them. I don't think they have been seen before around here..." Both ghosts agreed. They had seen the same thing. Things were getting more and more strange and Eirwen was hating it more and more. While thinking, they heard a grunt ahead. They drew their guns and walked slowly. A ghost came flying at them. Future War Cult colours. It looked roughed, but otherwise in fine condition. It quickly took them to the hunter. He laid against and rocky wall. Eirwen looked around while F tended to the hunter. No Fallen markings. No supplies. Nothing to hold the hunter back. Nothing to keep the Fallen out. She had to wonder what was happening, were the Vex involved? They could be protecting something deep inside, but no architecture marked their passing. No Minotaur would leave a natural formation un-improved. F looked at the hunter. His side was bleeding. He had made himself a bandage, the ghost could not help him. Something was stopping it from helping its guardian. Around the wound, F quickly saw hints of the darkness. It was not life threatening but they would need to go to the tower. He looked at Eirwen and asked her if she could do anything. She shook her head. -"I can electrocute him, but you'll want a Sun Singer for that." The last part was said while her head pointed at the wound. The titan took one of the arms of the hunter and help it up. He had bandage things as best as he knew. He hoped they could find another exit. The hunter grunted again. Pain. And from deep within the rumble echoed. Slowly, with their guns out, they walked deeper and deeper. As they went the cave turned and twisted. Eirwen examined every wall. Soon small sketches appeared. And as the tunnels grew, so did the figures. Great, incredible carvings decorated the caves. She was in awe. F ignored them, concentrating on teh hunter. Soon enough the tunnel lead them to a great chamber. Many other tunnels connected to it. The ceiling was lost in darkness. The ghost went around, but their light was not needed. A blue glow filled the bottom half of the place. All tunnels were mouths into the dark. They stood in the door way and looked around. A faint crackling hit Eirwen's ear. She looked around, but did not see anything. Her ghost guessed her intention and did a quick scan. Nothing. F knew something was off and moved closer to her. They did not have to talk much to communicate. They stood and the rumble was heard again. It shoot the chamber and their bodies. It was close. Too close. F ghost paused in the air as it looked around and then hid behind his guardian. -"I sense something." -"What is it? -"Something is hidden here" -"Like in Dreadnought or like the sneaky thing hunter do?" The ghost did not know how to answer. Eirwen had caught on. She told her ghost to try and match the frequency Vandals use for their camouflage. Their eyes open. Their mouths dropped. Legends, myths, and tall tales stood in front of them. Chained and dormant. The Kell of Kells.
