With Suicide Squad releasing this weekend, I'm just curious as to what everyone thinks of it so far. For those who have seen it already that is. Spoilers are welcome, but please put them in the spoiler box so as not to ruin it for those that haven't seen it yet. Then if they feel like they need to know, they can just click show spoiler.
I got to see it Thursday night at a late night premiere screening. The auditorium was packed, I'm talking not one empty seat. From a story narrative, I highly enjoyed it. For the most part, it's just your stereotypical action flick with DC characters thrown in. The film does tend to focus more on Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, and Rick Flag. But we do get some nice character development for Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc, and El Diablo as well.
Honestly wasn't surprised that Slipknot was killed trying to escape
He is hardly marketed in the trailers or other material.
I'll say it right now. I loved Jared Leto's Joker. I was a little hesitant when they first revealed him. But he was fantastic. My only problem is that his screen time is very short. I know they wanna save him for Justice League or the solo Batman film, but what they do to viewers with him is like a woman playing just the tip. Sorry if that comment offends anyone, particularly the ladies, but it's the most fitting analogy.
Then we come to the technical aspects of the film. The worst part of this film is the editing. This film cuts around all over the place. A scene will be playing out and it's getting a nice flow to it and suddenly the scene jumps to something else. For those that don't know, the film had to go back and do reshoots following the slaughter of Batman v Superman by critics. You can see where those reshoots took place. There are several scenes in the trailers that don't even appear in the film or they were clearly reshot and look different. The big scene omissions that pissed me off were the Joker's "I can't wait to show you my toys" and "bye bye/grenade" scenes, as well as the bar scene where Harley asks what everyone wants. That particular scene was reshot into something else.
Overall, I think Suicide Squad had the potential to be one of the best movies of the year. Sadly it is going to be held down by the mistakes of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman to which David Ayer had to play to. It's certainly a step in the right direction. Better than both Man of Steel and Batman v Superman. I have faith that the DCEU will improve. I'm already liking what I'm seeing from the Justice League and Wonder Woman trailers.
I would say I'd give Suicide Squad a 7 out of 10 rating. What about y'all?

Needs more cowbell.

I almost left 20 minutes in, but it slowly got better as it went. I hated Leto's joker though, didn't like all the ghetto aesthetics

I haven't been this underwhelmed in a long time. The plot was awful. The premise was terrible. The villain was cringe inducing. Some of the special effects were horrendous. Wish I hadn't had bothered with it - and I don't enjoy saying that as I was really looking forward to it.

Modifié par BBCGAGGER : 8/8/2016 2:02:23 AM9/10 I thought it was great, it was a lot of fun. Great acting and some really funny moments and action scenes. I actually bought the relationships between Harley Quinn and the joker and enchantress and rick flag. I like the fact that DC has decent villains in their "bad movies" like Zod and Enchantress. The villains at least have some sort of backstory and originality, unlike Marvel's villains where 90% of the time the villain is a rich white guy who's bad just because the plot needs him to be. A few gripes I had were that katana looked stupid and basically didn't do anything and the fact that a lot of the fight scenes are just like the avengers where in the heroes/main characters are just fighting the same guys over and over again. Also there are some lines in the movie that are just really really stupid especially some of the "comedy" from Harley Quinn. I really don't get the bad reviews for this movie. Does the bad editing in a few scenes really make the movie a 5/10 or lower?

Overall thought it was a good movie. Dat enchantress tho <3
-
Man of Steel was better
-
I've haven't seen it myself but have heard nothing but bad reviews. Seeing how the last few DC movies have been I believe the the bad reviews.
-
Thinking of seeing it this weekend. Would you recommend it?

I'd agree with 7/10. Didn't like the Joker, thought everyone else was reasonably cool. Was a huge fan of Enchantress, really loved her ancient witch design. Editing was pretty jarring, licensed music was overwhelming.

Modifié par Reggie_Wok : 8/7/2016 8:23:50 AM6/10 It was choppy and the main villain was lame as hell. It also looked as though many of the scenes were cut short or had been taken out. Overall, not horrible, but certainly disappointing, and at the same time utterly bland. Will Smith as Dead Shot was the one thing this movie did right. The cast itself was pretty good, but the writing was lackluster and the action did nothing to give the movie any depth or distinct character. I think people's scores will really come down to expectations and what they're looking for in a movie. If you want large action sequences and big budget visuals, this is you're movie. However, if you wanted anything more, this movie leaves much to be desired. Not bad, but not quite good either. It sits around the decent to mediocre mark for me.

My girlfriend wants to see it so, being a good boyfriend, I said I'll see it too. Even though I really don't want to see it.

Key notes for me: Harley Quinn = hot Actress? Not Enchantress = daaaaaaaaamn I wanted to tap DAT Actress? Look ^

I'm assuming most people are teens here since no one will criticize this movie at all.. Anything with spoiler is a spoiler(FYI) Negatives: -Jared Leto's performance: The look could take some getting used to but Leto was just annoying. His mannerisms, to his mix of Heath of Mark's voices were painful to hear. And that damn laugh...he sounds the Count from Sesame Street wtf man. If he wanted to pull off a more "gangster" Joker. He needed to have the intensity of Mark and the subtlety of Heath. I mostly blame writing though. -The jokes: "oh..you smell like death" *Crickets* seriously only about 4 of the jokes were funny. Some were painfully delivered at that. Plot: Very simple and full of glaring holes that didn't even warrant the need of the Suicide Squad.
The main conflict ends with 4 sticks of C4 and a big explosion..again. You could've had a jet fly in and do all that shit in 30 minutes and ended the whole catastrophe
Characters: Deadshot, Harley, and El Diablo were really the only characters that developed at all. The rest were just there. Also "Deadshot, most wanted assassin in the world." They initially had Deathstroke in this film..did they forget about his profession? Acting: This will be my last one but it's not a huge one either. Every now and then some lines or moments felt so phoned in and not really cared for.
Will Smith during some flashbacks yelling "No!" was so calmly delivered and had about as much emotion as that damn donkey from Winnie the Pooh. Margot Robbie also had an emotional moment that was just totally botched due to her tone. Leto...ehh ehh ehh ehh ehhhhhhhhhhhh. You spent two weeks and came up with that shite????
My popcorn was more enjoyable than that complete waste of time and money joke of a movie. I'm serious

7.5/10 Possible spoilers down here. -Deadshot playing Will Smith was great -Harley Quinn was good -Not sure how i felt about Killer Croc, he had some moments. -Boomerang was mostly comedy relief for me. -Katana is hot, -Enchantress was obvious villain -Flag is pretty cool -a little more joker would've been cool -wish every character that wasn't Harley or deadshot got more screen time. -felt like details were cut out from the movie. Like they crunched stuff together by making cuts. -speaking of cuts, jump cuts in the movie are pretty bad. -i was actually intimidated by Amanda Waller Pretty much how i felt.

Modifié par FalconNCE : 8/6/2016 5:25:59 PM8/10 I thought Deadshot was really good.

Modifié par Masque of Night : 8/7/2016 3:20:54 AMI just saw it last night on a date with my girlfriend. For me, I think seven out of ten is a good number. I'm aware that the movie went through a fair amount of changes during production, which i'm sure is a large part of what made it feel somewhat "choppy". I liked the characters involved in concept, but I felt like their development wasn't very well interwoven into the events of the film, or that there just wasn't enough of it. The pacing felt off, the script was a bit shaky in some parts. However, I did enjoy the action sequences, which it definitely wasn't short on, and the special effects looked good to me. And to be fair, that's all I was really expecting when I was going into it, hence why I still give it a good score despite the flaws. Too summarize, great concept and characters, not too great in terms of execution. Plus Waller survived...which I was fully expecting, but I was really hoping she wouldn't.

This movie was not good. It feel completely flat on nearly every aspect. Some of the major plot points just made no sense. I'll put an example in the spoiler.
The whole Deadshot/Batman thing. Why would Waller bother sending Bats after Deadshot if they were tracking him? Anyone could have grabbed him off the street. On top of that, why did Batman go after Deadshot while he was with his daughter? Bat could have waited about 10 minutes and jumped him after he dropped her off at home. The real kicker is that in the fantasy induced by enchantress, Deadshot's wish is to kill batman? Not be with his daughter, who is apparently the whole reason he's doing this anyway, and the only thing he loves? The whole movie is just riddled with shoddy reasoning. And did anyone not see Slip Knot's death coming? His purpose from the second he was introduced was to obviously get his head blown off and to die a meaningless death without contributing to the movie in any other way. I feel bad for that actor. I feel bad for all the actors because performance wasn't the problem (except on Cara D's part because she was just cringy). Writing and direction were the clear fall backs of this film. The action and fight choreography were decent, but the rest was barely cohesive.
7/10 for me. Deadshot and Harley Quinn were fantastic but were focused on a bit too much. That boomerang guy was completely pointless. El Diablo was great, as was Killer Croc.

It was great, very enjoyable. Some shit did not work, but overall it was a 7.5 to me.
