What's everyone's thoughts on the Skorn? Are they just another Fallen re-skin?... We've already had Siva so I'm kind of thinking - yeah it's going to be another re-skin...
I do think they look pretty damn cool from what's we've seen so far though!
I can honestly say I won't really care if they can pull off some great campaign missions and new lore along with replay-ability then I don't think I'll mind...
That being said I know a lot of people will be thinking that it's just another lazy attempt for "new content"...
But I guess I would argue that I would prefer a quick fix re-skin and concentrate on improving game play and replay-ability rather than putting everything into a new race and no game play improvements...
What's everyone's thoughts?...
-
Same race but actually new mechanics and a interesting backstory, not something I would call a re-skin.
-
The storm are fallen zombies, was confirmed in an interview between bungie and either game Informer or game spot.
-
Just because they are from the same race doesn't make them a re-skin. As long as they fight different, use different methods, have different weapons etc they are not re-skinned
-
Half of the people that say things are reskins don't even know what a reskin is...
-
Mutated Fallen.
-
I definitely don’t think they’re reskins, considering there’s mutated fallen that crawl on all their legs and explode like cursed thrall and “captains” (can’t remember the name) that drop those lanterns that give different buffs.
-
I see them as Fallen only from a lore perspective. As for a game design viewpoint they are a new race. Beyond the Darkness/race 5 adding new enemy factions outside of corrupted versions of what we are facing seems odd to me. Not that fighting the same enemies gets dull at times but beyond race 5 it seems weird if suddenly a new race just appeared that was such a threat that the others were put to the side. Personally I see the Destiny universe in its twilight phase or last stand. Everything alive now is just what’s left or what has conquered everything else. We are making that last stand for the continuation of life in the universe verses the Darkness or domination of the Sword Logic. It would just seem so strange to eventually fight the Darkness and then have an oops moment when a new race of beings arrive and they were somehow more of a danger or threat than the Darkness itself? Could one imagine in D3 beating the Triangle ships/race 5 and having celebrations to only have Squid creatures just show up and wipe out everything? As in they would have defeated the darkness as if it was a minor threat? It would have made the entire closed system of Destiny’s story futile and almost meaningless. Like the Traveller and the Darkness were just snotty fighting siblings and then mom and dad come home...

How about Taken Scorn?
-
I dunno, we haven't really seen them in action yet but I'm getting the feeling they'll be more than just a reskin. We know they're set to have more aggressive AI but so did the Splicers. The degrees of difference could be small or large, I guess we won't know till we see them up close.
-
You clearly don't know what a reskin is.
-
Reskin implies only the skin was changed which means the AI would need to be identical or close to it. In this case we have a combo of heavy skin changes and major AI changes. If this is also on top of good character development and lore then it's well beyond a reskin for anyone being rational.
-
Here’s the thing, Bungie has told us that they ARE in fact, Fallen. But they’ve been reanimated countless times to become something entirely different. They are entirely different. Even different AI. If it were a reskin, they’d be like the House of Dusk.
-
It’s not the reskins that bother me, it’s their gameplay. Little alterations go a long way for me. From what we’ve been shown and told, the Scorn don’t function like any other race. They’re very aggressive, like the Hive are supposed to be. How they’ll affect gameplay in the current sandbox in Forsaken will be interesting
-
Not reskins, yeah, they kinda resemble fallen faintly, but they look completely new. Calling that a reskin is like calling a frog fish a reskin of the Atlantic football fish. Same species, completely different in style and approach
-
<As long as they act different enough and have new ways to fight I'm fine. It's why I like the Taken... yes I like those abominations.>
-
Modifié par Star : 7/9/2018 6:25:54 PMI don't understand why if Bungie wants to use an enemy we've fought before or one similar to it to make their story, why does everyone hop on and say it's a reskin. For the amount of time invested in making the scorn look like that and all the new abilities they have, they could've made a new enemy in the same time. So I take it is as they don't want to introduce a new race yet, just a new enemy. I don't see why people have a problem with that as long as the story is good. A reskin is using the Better Devils frame for like 15 "different hand canons" and painting them differently.
-
Not reskins they are only fallen from a lore view but gameplay wise they will be like a new race
-
Reskin? Yes indeed. The question is... has the AI changed? Probably not but that's OK. It looks like they reskined everything, also. It saves them some money. They need to make as much money as possible so they can produce Destiny 3 and reskin everything there, too. I hope they put out a lot more emotes, ghost shells and sparrows so people have something to spend money on worthwhile. I only received one each over the last 6 months from faction rallies.
-
I don’t think they are reskins just because they’re related to the fallen. Every unit has new and different mechanics that the fallen don’t have, such as elemental totems and flaming lanterns. Some of them don’t even look like fallen anymore.
-
Not a re-skin. They are technically fallen, but they are all new enemies with different move sets
-
While yes they are similar to the fallen I think of them more as a Taken line of reskins. Similar models but with enough new enemies and attacks to justify it, at least in my eyes. It also seems that there are going to be new models for enemies, those huge Dreg looking things for example. I'm looking forward to see what they do with the scorn
-
The scorn are fallen yes. But I count them as a completely new race for several reasons. They have drastically different abilities compared to regular fallen. In parts of the video we see one of them shooting beams out of its hands. Some of them can, it appears, do a shockwave ability. I’m pretty excited to see how they work and react. I’m counting them not as fallen but as scorn.
-
Late at night Bungie artists gathered together in a darkened backroom and got high as balls.
-
Apparently they're actually really different. They're more a horribly mutated version of the Fallen, they're much more aggressive and destructive, have different fighting styles, more fighting styles, and are pretty much different in every way other than stealing old tech and being Fallen.
-
Yes this is the 3rd reskin of the fallen. Original fallen Taken Fallen Siva Fallen Scorn Fallen They will never give us new races, everything will just be a reskin from this point(launch date of D1) until destiny ends.

This post.....just another forum reskin.....
