For those who don’t play FPS’s are frequently as myself, guns that are meta are guns that -usually- have an easier skill gap, have a faster kill time, or are simply fun to use. I say usually because, more often than not, among the group of 5-10 weapons that are meta because of good reasons, there is one that is meta due to its overpowered nature.
Prime example: telesto. I loved using telesto in D1. It was gimmicky, effective and generated hella orbs. When they moved it back to special slot I was happy in D2, but now I am realizing that was a grave mistake by Bungie. Something about telesto is different in D2, and a combination of high stability, and increased amount of projectiles vs. other fusion rifles, and the lack of damage falloff resulting from the attachable projectiles makes the gun just feet short of being a sniper.
It outperforms most other fusions at close ranges, and all other fusions batting linears (which are heavies to begin with) at longer ranges. In my opinion, fusions should rule the 10-25 meter ranges that shotguns and snipers cannot dominate as well in. They should be countermeasures against shotguns, smgs, handcannons, shoulder charge, etc. that can kill at a respectable range. Telesto is easily capable of consistent kills at 30 to even 45 meters and closer. That’s an issue.
It is no doubt then, that as a result of this capacity to snipe people, that telesto is highly used, and somewhat irritating to play against in the competitive gamemode. It clearly needs to be changed, and some people aren’t calling for a move to power slot, but I like using telesto in the special. My suggestion: increase the projectile spread at further ranges so that it can’t snipe people. Simple. It would remain a powerful weapon with the cool sticky bombs perk, but it wouldn’t be killing me 40m away and it would diversify competitive with other fusions and even some snipers because it frees up those longer ranges.
I know people are just going to tell me to get good and counter it by not sucking, but if you have a constructive comment, please share your thoughts below. :)

The problem with Telesto is the damage from the particles and the amount of time they remain attached to surfaces. If you can hit me with it dead on, props to you. But you shouldn't be able to shoot the -blam!-ing area around me and be rewarded for it.
-
Telesto is the only meta gun that lets scrubby players get kills they shouldnt get. Instead of nerfing it, it should get buffed and moved to heavy slot.
-
I went up against a team last night on Burnout where they just camped inside and all used molesto to control choke points and heavy. We beat them because they weren’t very good players but it was a effective strategy that let them punch above their weight. It’s frustrating to play against but unless it’s in the hands of good players it’s not OP and in the hands of good players it’s only OP because of the user.

Telesto does need a much wider spread. Too many times I've been OHK at scout rifle range.
-
telesto and power ammo are a massive problem in comp
-
Teslesto is where the other fusions should be. Consitent and usable outside of shotgun range. Non of them are, which is the problem. Shotguns themselves well, get a good role on them longer ranged ones and you be sniping people way more reliably then any fusion rifle could hope to do. Personally fusions in D2 are surprisingly more shit then they were in D1. At least they were reliably inconsistent in D1. Some fusions you can't 2 tap point blank with them because of the shotty hit detection shrugging off your bolts.

Telesto gives trash players a chance and makes good players great players.

If you can’t compete to get lunas howl, you don’t deserve it. It’s not 2018 tee ball. You don’t all get the same trophy. There are winners and losers. You lose. Me too and I’m cool with that. It’s called adulting. Let the streamers and others who can pull it off have their success without being ridiculed over weapon choice. Bungie doesn’t listen anyway!

You're hilarious. If it wasnt telesto back peddling you when you rush it would be Luna and wardcliff op you'd complain about, learn the maps stop please.

Modifié par ATinyBushWookie : 10/15/2018 3:12:03 AMI’ve faced a few telestos in comp. they are somewhat annoying, but arnt unbeatable. I played in comp on my new titan with a blue auto and the first white smg. Outplayed many telestos. Strafing is the best way to counter telesto. So only a few projectiles hit instead of all. Jumping around doors help to. Can’t kill what they can’t hit.
-
Then nerf shotguns stop bitching about telesto its the anti shotgun game and thats why you dont like it stop crying about it. Im Sick of shotgun users crying about telsto.
-
PvP players crying, lol. Must be a day ending in Y

As someone who has had an extended relationship with telesto since D1, I can somewhat understand where people come from when they complain about the projectiles having extensive range. However, I also see many players challenging Telesto with their backs against a wall, so you can't really fix stupid. It's a sticky gun. Avoid the stickies. They fire in a vertical column, move horizontally. That's how I challenge Telesto, that's how I am most frequently challenged. A good HC/Pulse user can absolutely JUKE your ass. It's not consistent at a point-and-shoot basis like Sleeper, or Chaperone. [Sometimes, ooh it's so nice]. Good luck, smash anybody you see cheating, and have fun. It's the Crucible, not a potter's field. You will respawn.
-
I use it because it perfectly counters the bygones+shotgun meta. Plus it’s fun to use.
Though I assure you, I don’t use it in comp. I don’t even play comp lol
-
In my experience, Telesto is not much a factor in comp. I see far more people running Wardcliff coil with HC/shotgun, or Pulse/Shotgun.
-
I dont think its meta, its just a good counter to people who only know how to use shotguns
-
There are FAR more Shotguns used than Telesto.
-
Call me a filthy casual, but I honestly don't care if things are balanced I'm mostly in it to blow some things up
-
Make telesto a heavy. No nerf needed.
-
Telesto is too powerful I don't care how many shotguns there are.
-
Modifié par Fenrir's Heart : 10/14/2018 2:52:50 PMYes telesto is strong. However, primaries still do way less bodyshot damage in D2 compared with the first game. Perfect accuracy is not always possible. That’s the real issue. Buff primaries back to D1 levels.
-
Nah! Get good and stop sucking at pvp
-
Its an exotic , theres alot of exotics in the special primary slot that are really good Telesto seems fine to me The only thing they need to fix on telesto is that it works like a tripmine Say if u were to fire it on a wall enemy walks by it , it detonates Thats the only thing that needs nerfing Missing a shot or pre firing should not be a thing
-
Well this was well thought and maturely constructed so good job sir. That being said, no, everything you said is true, but still no. Nerf's by bungie are always bad. Better to have a strong telesto then a n impotent one.
-
The issue I see is the special economy. There's no SBMM or CBMM so there's always gonna be that one guy who's super good with a shotgun/sniper/fusion rifle and they will always have ammo for one reason or another. There's no real limits to the special ammo aside from not running special so you don't drop it, but then you're only harming yourself... Bungie have to do something to limit the special play just a little. Here's where everyone flips out and tells me that I want the game to be slow and boring. Hear me out, if Bungie give everyone a set amount of ammo, say 10 rounds (maybe more) for whatever, fusion rifle, sniper and shotgun, then people will have to use them wisely rather than have half the population of PvP use shotguns to make up for their lack of skill or use fusion rifles to counter shotguns (or telesto to be an ass). Snipers may even see more use cause once the shotgun apes run out of ammo, you are more free to snipe.
