I stopped playing destiny 2 right when Curse of Osiris came out. I had a falling out with the game and decided to not spend more money on it. But, after all this time later I'm starting to hear that the game has improved, that Curse of Osiris and Warmind are free now, and that paid DLC is standalone. I am considering returning but I have a few questions that I hope somebody can answer.
1) Would it be fun and worthwhile, for a player who has not played this game since December 5, 2017, (almost two years ago!) to start playing this game again?
2) Is it even possible to get to the max light level in a reasonable amount of time? Or will I just be super far behind when each expansion comes out?
3) Did sparrow racing ever come back and/or will it ever come back again?
4) I'm not sure if I want to buy shadowkeep yet. If I don't, will I not be able to play endgame activities like nightfalls?
5) I've never been in an active clan so I played through most of Destiny 1 and vanilla Destiny 2 solo. How much of the new stuff could I do as a solo player?
Thanks for putting up with my rambling I'd really appreciate what current players think about this. I've been missing this franchise recently and thought if anyone could give advice on coming back to the game it would be these forums. Tell me what you think, I'm all ears.

Bruh it's free, even if you don't like it you don't have to worry about wasting your money

Honestly, I left for the same reasons around the same time you did and just picked it up again last Wednesday. I hit the soft cap yesterday with minimal effort. It’s a good time to come back.

If you enjoyed TTK or ROI, then you should have a decent time. Bottom line is don’t listen to the salt mines. Form your own opinion.

I play solo and still get most of the stuff done, minus the raids of course. Forsaken max light was 750 and I managed to make it to around 740, and I crushed it in gambit and crucible. For the nightfalls I just posted here and found teams pretty quick. Haven’t tried asking about a raid here for fear of being crucified. I haven’t even attempted any of them in destiny 2 and I’m a day one destiny player. Did all of it in destiny 1, but my friends stopped playing when 2 cam out and I never got in with another clan. But even if you wanted to raid, I’m sure you can slide in with a group that would be willing to show you the ropes.

Up to you. This is the worst place to ask. Everyone is going to be toxic and say no. Look at reviews.

It’s depends. Do you like when games take giant leaps backwards? If the answer is yes then Destiny is worth coming back to. It’s free though and nothing you pay for is really worth it so you won’t be losing much but time and sanity — maybe that’s actually a lot...

Yes. Yes. No. Yes. Everything but the raid so far.
-
Nah you jumped ship once. Not needed. No hype players allowed 😉
-
Wait for a sale or for next summer when the current dlc is free.
-
It's alot different than it was in year 1, but you shouldn't come back if you disliked it before.
-
Just stay out of crucible and you'll enjoy it
-
Play the free track.

COSMICHAZMAT24 You make some valid points and i agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold.
2) Is it even possible to get to the max light level in a reasonable amount of time? Or will I just be super far behind when each expansion comes out?
You start the game at 750 power, this is the lowest level know, even for old players. I am 905 power after 3 days without playing too much. But i have no idea how much it will be long to reach 950 and then 960.
3) Did sparrow racing ever come back and/or will it ever come back again?
The developers talk about SRL sometimes, but nothing new since a while.
4) I'm not sure if I want to but shadowkeep yet. If I don't, will I not be able to play endgame activities like nightfalls?
Yes, i do not have Shadowkeep, but i can do all the nightfalls. Actually the new strikes are free (but only through the strike playlist, not from the orbit.) The seasonal artifact is really cool, you can upgrade it with XP and it increase your power on all your characters. But you won't be able to the new raid, dungeon and Vex invasion.
5) I've never been in an active clan so I played through most of Destiny 1 and vanilla Destiny 2 solo. How much of the new stuff could I do as a solo player?
I leaved my clan, and mostly play solo now, with some friens some times and i really enjoy the game. I do not know exactly what is present in New Light, but nost of the activities have a matchmaking, even the new nightfall system (not for all difficulties) and i got a nightfall specific reward today.

Modifié par Corrick II : 10/5/2019 10:27:21 PMPart of me says maybe wait. The new systems are just now being tested by the players (because that’s what Bungie uses players for), and looking at how many consumables they’ve added and how complicated the new systems are, I can almost guarantee they’ll change it with the next big content drop. Then again, I can say that for just about every major change in the game, so if you waited for things to stabilize, you’ll just be waiting forever. If you like the basic gameplay, it’s still the same. If you don’t like over-complicated grind and unnecessarily bloated progression, then I’d say look around for a replacement because it’s probably just going to get worse.

I'm just gonna say, if anyone try's to paint anything but this pass's raid, or the vex offensive as good, well they aren't right somewhere. I say no friend. It's going to be more of a fumble and a grind for you to fix armour the way you want, especially the way the stats drop. The meta in crucible has not changed for atleast a year, mainly hunter's and titan's still, warlocks are a joke now, assuming you main console, on pc warlocks can still do ok. And on pc you atleast have a more diverse meta for PvP. Other than that no, you might have fun at first, but after the first week has passed, no.

Modifié par ecto69 : 10/5/2019 7:45:41 PMNo Run away as fast as you can, I've been stuck on the Moon for 5 years LOL Well you start off at 750 now and can do almost all the content without much grinding You can do everything except RAID and possibly some of the other Non-MatchMaking modes
-
No! Burn the game to the ground and don't look back
-
no. its pay walled trash now. like the one dude said, just wait until this dlc is free.
