It's time to send out Halo 3... with a bang. OldFomans, front and centre on the double!

Fellow boomers: we've got 2 days left to enjoy the online matchmaking of Bungie's magnum opus in its original incarnation before it's gone forever. Grab your mics, grab your copy of Halo 3 (ODST Mythic disc preferred), and an Xbox 360/Xbox One/Series X, and boot that -blam!- up - I'll be in Social Slayer until the cows come home. Make sure you change your voice chat settings to let you hear the enemy team in proximity as well as your own team, I was in a 10 player partied-up lobby for several hours last night and almost all of us had mics, it was amazing. This -blam!- just doesn't happen in modern games anymore.

I have a bit of a story I'd like to share, but if you don't care feel free to move on.
Halo: 3 Xbox 360... I'm going to miss this game so much. It was the first Xbox 360 I played offline and online. I instantly fell in love with this game. I used to rush home from school and discuss with my friends what we could play or build in forge. Not only that, but I used to spend time during my school breaks drawing up plans for new Infection maps. Move forward a few years, I started to get more involved in the Halo community by posting on Bungie.net and various other community sites such as HaloCharts.com. I met a lot of awesome and funny folks on the Bungie.net forums and a lot of great times were had. I can remember when certain individuals would get up to no good just to piss off the mods (EG: pyramid quotes and meatspin links). I also remember the laughs we used to share with certain Bungie employees who were very active on the forums. Another memory I hold tight is all 27,000 games I played of Halo 3. Most of those games were in Rumble Pit (social solo playlist) and Double Exp weekends. During my many games of Rumble Pit, I met an awesome individual who went by the name of 'ChimpHomage'. It was only recently that I found out from one of his in real life friends that he sadly passed away at the young age of 30. Though I did not know Chimp in real life, it was still devastating news. He loved Halo 3 social playlists just as much as myself and didn't care if he lost or won. It upsets me that I'm unable to spend the final hours of Halo 3 with ChimpHomage, but I know that he is still gaming in heaven. He is an awesome individual. Thank you for creating such awesome games, Bungie. If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have met ChimpHomage and all the awesome members of the community and your work force.
