Hi all,
While fighting my way through a weekly Lv 28 strike mission and running out of secondary ammo (for my Void damage fusion rifle), I remembered the consumable synthesis I stocked up on previously for such occasions however; After taking cover and then waiting for my inventory to load up, and then waiting to be transferred to my Items screen. I was taken out by a MLG pro Vex Hob Goblin. (no scope, head shot, laser-beam instakill...) Dude might as well have been revolving 360° through the air at 100mph.
At this point in time it suddenly occurred to me that ammunition synthesis just aren't worth the time it takes to activate them when needed. Wouldn't it be useful to have a mechanic in the game that lets you customize the D-pad functions? as gestures currently have very little significance.
Call me insane but I'd personally love to have the option to switch out some of the gestures I never use for the instant use of consumables so that I might activate them while simultaneously shooting alien robots in the face!
I really don't see the need for pointing gestures or sitting on chairs in the tower that make my feet hover in the air awkwardly... especially when everyone I play with is able to articulate them self's and convey there thoughts to me through the amazing gift of speech!!!

If I can't dance after I shotgun that guy that tea bagged me, then life is meaningless.

I wouldn't mind a quick switch for weapons using the D Pad's left (primary), down (heavy) and right (special) and using D Pad up for ammo synthesis on equipped weapon. Just add in an ammo sacrifice for quick switching weapons and that should prevent switching weapons for ammo advantages. An idea could be for a 25% decrease in ammo from current ammo percentage on equipped weapon.

Allow me to clarify. As one of Mellow's friends, I was with him in the event at hand when he brought it up to us. We were all getting bum rushed by vex in every which way, he did call it out that he was getting a synthesis but still died because we couldn't reach him in time.

I'm not sure why we can't just map what we want to the D-Pad. If people want gestures great, then they should have access to those. But for instance I would love to have a tap a direction to show your objectives rather than having to get your ghost out. And a hold to go to orbit as well as a directional hold to get straight on your sparrow. (PS Bungie, also a straight to tower button from the ghost would make things a lot more pleasant, not sure why 3 screens are needed for this)

Modifié par Øbscure : 9/29/2014 5:40:47 PMI'd counter your argument by stating that the gestures should actually be of some use: Up: "Wave" invites target to your fire team Down: "Sit" sets your status as 'away' (displays a BRB icon next to your name) sending automatic replies to game invites that you are away. Left: "Point" sets a rally point visible to members of your fire team, using your emblem to distinguish who placed which rally point (can also be used on a target to call out priority targets for focus fire or on an ally to destinate as the point man/woman). Right: "Dance" sets your status as 'looking for group' (displays an LFG icon next to your name) if not presently in a fire team. As for ammo Synthesis, the easy way to do this is simply while holding the empty weapon, if you have an appropriate ammo synthesis in your inventory, the reload button (Square on PS, "X" on XBox) will display on the screen with text "Use Synthesis" next to it. Holding down the button for 2-3 seconds would use the appropriate ammo consumable, and no fussing with menus would be involved.

I've personally never had this problem because of a above said comment I call out to my teammates to cover me when I need to use a synthesis. But it's not a bad idea I personally wouldn't use it cause I have stupid amounts of fun with the gestures.
-
I am going to actually call you insane. Wouldn't you think that it would've been smart to tell your fire team that your gonna use you ammo synthesis. Or maybe even run away from the enemies or take cover behind an object where they can't get you. I'm sorry but even if the gestures are useless, you have made a really horrible point for the d-pad functions to be switched to something else.

Could not agree more. Those genstures are a complete and utter waste of time and inputs. I can think of a dozens things that could make better use of the D-pad. It's like, they said to each other: Hey, I played an MMO before and you could wave and dance! We should add that in Destiny. Sure we have no social features whatsoever, and we don't understand what a proper hub is, but what the hell.

the abilty to program buttons would be sweet as well. left dpad is a fourth weapon that does a different element. maybe i want b to be melee. a toggle sprint would save my poor controller a little wear. dpad down for sparrow. maybe i want my super set as right bumper so my cat cant betray me. an income or synthesis menu by holding left bumper
-
That sounds like an amazing idea, ammo consumable to be used instantly, for whatever reason I am alone in the destiny universe and trying to refill my sniper or fusion rifle is like a death sentence. One thing I would also like to throw on the dpad is the ability to switch between the types of grenades your class uses. Each one has its uses in different situations and I feel pretty much stuck with the one I pick, would be great to switch those on the fly.

Great minds think alike. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/70086634/0/0/1

Finally, some actual feedback not put across as a whine, and a good suggestion too. I had the same problem last night on the Queen's daily (great minds and all that). Good to see some sensible suggestions, shame Bungie probably won't listen to this one though because it's not backed/spammed by a whiny thread mob who crave social acceptance.

Agreed. Maybe move guestures to the touchpad. Pull out your ghost then use a button for a guesture.
-
Honestly i wish they'd do this but instead of eliminating the gestures just add it into the R3/Joysick button. Let me be able to press down on the left joy stick and pick a sythesis with the right one or vise versa and/or add another function to the other joystick.

Hate to say this but Warframes radial wheel seems like a good option. Hold up to open quick inventory, right for text chat menu (yes that would allow both good and bad), left for emotes, and down for current status, like looking for raid party, etc. Surely an easy fix.

I love dancing on cabal

great post

I LOVE MY GESTURES!
-
Yeah great idea. Like pressing up on the d-pad then opens an emote wheel then use the analog stick to scroll over them and then X and or A to use the emote or down on the d-pad to close it. And right on the pad is ammo, left can be glimmer buffs.

I agree completely. The gestures are useless outside of the Tower. Impliment something like what Mass Effect 3 did with their consumables. That system worked really well. Please nix the gestures, or at least save them for the Tower only. Also, could we PLEASE have manual flashlight control? It's getting a little ridiculous. Map it R3, it has no current use.

Modifié par MattScottFree : 9/28/2014 3:53:06 PMI like this idea a lot... Each guardian should have a choice. I you wanna dance THAT BADLY...keep them. If you want your d pad to have an actual PRACTICAL purpose then you should be able to bind consumables to them.

Check out my post horde mode / survival It has gain a lot popularity and comes with examples and set up please give us your opinion and Ideas. two posts of it has almost 400 comments combined but we need the views of gamers of all walks of life. Thanks fellow guardians your pal mofo

An excellent suggestion! One button to open up emotes, whilst the rest are specifically for ammo-synthesis, consumables, bounty-tracking, etc. This NEEDS to be in the next update for Destiny

Would be useful for boss/ target marking

Totally agree with you there. Reminds me of WOW. It's a pain when you have to go in to inventory to activate spare ammo. Using the D pad would be a great idea, but would agree you need to keep the victory dance. Kinda cool!

As long as we can keep dancing
