Is it too late to join WoW?

I got reeeally excited about the coming Warcraft movie and just started replaying WC 3 campaign, having tons of fun and nostalgia attacks. But. Even tho I think of myself as a Warcraft fan, there has been one important thing about this game series that I ignored for years. Yes, it's World of Warcraft which I have never ever played. Looking at this game and just realizing how huge it is always made me scared of it. I mean there was so much to see, so much to do that I was afraid to simply lose my life to WoW. Today, after reading short story of all the addons I felt like I missed a few very sweet moments I could have had in my memory. According to some journalists, the Legion is about to be the last big story based addon, which would mean that the game is "ending". How do you think, is it the right time to join World of Warcraft or should I keep playing WC 3 instead? Many players say that WoW will never be as good as it was during Burning Crusade. Is it even worth playing? Your opinions and advices. Edit: Thanks for replies everyone! Besides, I've talked to a few veteran players who think that WoW is still kickass. I guess I am pretty convinced now :)

  • I haven't actually played much this expansion. But it's never too late per se. Now is actually a good time as you will have lots of time to level up, explore and figure things out before the next expansion. Each expansion is a sort of reset for everyone. The gear in the new content is more powerful, the level cap is increased and so are the professions. Trying to catch up at the end of an expansion cycle can be a lot more daunting. WoW can eat up a lot of your time. I have somewhere on the order of 500 days played, I'm sure others have a lot more as I was inactive off and on. I have been playing since December of 2004 though, so it's been pretty well spread out. I'd say it's a fun game. The world itself is large, fleshed out and full of lore tidbits. The quests can get a bit repetitive, however they have significantly improved many of the old quests and the overall flow of the game. You can always do the free trial as well, which I think lets you play up to level 20. That gets your feet wet at least, without any real investment.
