The cypher doesn't sound that amazing because it's really not mixed well, the microphones are shoddy quality, and these guys aren't cypher rappers. They ride on beats, because their music isn't focused on their lyrics. They never intended to be overly esoteric and create impressive displays of poetic excellence, and it's foolish for people to judge them for not doing so. That's like if you called an abstract painting bad because it was obscure. I will say though, I think someone like XXX is to be appreciated in music. Yes, his fan base is terrible. But he's one the few fearless people who's being anti-music right now. It's not easy to do. And it's definitely not easy to gain the popularity he has while doing it.
